  1. My AOIs are in aesthetics, environmental philosophy, continental thought and philosophy of literature. I applied to Temple, Villanova, DePaul (didn't hear back anything, so I'm assuming rejection?), McGill, Fordham, Oregon (same situation as DePaul), Memphis, Alberta, Buffalo, Michigan State (got wait listed... hoping to get off the wait list! I really like their program), New School, Georgia State and Tufts. What about you, anon530?
  2. Congrats to everyone on Oregon!! I fucking wish I was in your shoes. Dream program, bahhhh.
  3. Like everyone else, I was waitlisted for MSU. Any of you other MSU waitlists have any idea of how many they admitted? Or our shot of making it off the waitlist?
  4. I have still yet to hear an official rejection from any school, but the fact that there are a few acceptances and waitlists posted for Oregon and DePaul have led me to believe that I am (implicitly) rejected. Anyone else feeling like this? Though the fact that DePaul sent out a rejection via e-mail (and I didn't get one yet) leaves me a little hope?
  5. I may or may not be drunk as hell with sadness at the moment, but to whoever got those Oregon acceptances: Congrats. What did they say? Also, I'm extemely jealous. I would do ANYTHING to go here, and not getting a call/email pains me to no end.
  6. Thanks for the information, grmnda. Congratulations! Great accomplishment. I hope one comes my way.
  7. Anyone wanna claim that Temple acceptance? I'm waiting to hear from them and would love to know what they said!
  8. Bummer. I'm not getting an interview then, I'm guessing. Good luck to you, though! I wish you well.
  9. To whoever posted the DePaul interview... what did they say? I'm anxiously waiting to hear from them. I hope they didn't send out their full round of interview invitations yet.
  10. Likewise on the college credit earned in high schools... Pain in the ass when it came time to acquire official transcripts (and only for 12 credits of courses that would make absolutely no difference to an admissions committee).
  11. A very, very similar thing happened with me and a letter of recommendation. These things are terrifying.
  12. I think most schools claim to look at applicants in a holistic manner, but in reality, I think they make some cuts based on GRE scores. When the departments have to go to the deans for funding numbers, one of the the latter's only indication of high performance (without reading through every application piece) is the GRE and the GPA. It sucks, but I've been told this is the case by many professors. I have slightly poor GRE scores, though, and am hoping that they do indeed look at every piece of the application!!!! Good luck!
  13. I too am reading "Infinite Jest" by David Foster Wallace. That and "The Lessons on The Analytic of the Sublime" by Lyotard.
  14. Hey aglaea, I applied to Temple U, Viilanova U, DePaul U, McGill U, Fordham U, UOregon, UMemphis, UAlberta, UBuffalo, Michigan State U, New School for Social Research, Georgia State U, Tufts U. My research is continental heavy. AOI: Kantian judgment, the sublime, philosophy of literature, critical theory, etc. Would seriously do anything to get into UOregon, DePaul U or Fordham U. Really, though, I will be happy with acceptances from any of the schools I applied to! Hoping for at least one piece of good news
  15. Anyone else pulling their hair out waiting to hear back, or is it just me? The waiting game is pure brutality.
