  1. Hopeful, I imagine you'll get your financial aid letter soon. I got mine yesterday and live in NYC, so I bet your's in on the way!
  2. I know that Syracuse (Maxwell) is very highly ranked (if that matters, who knows how much it does). In my opionion, if you are interested in Nonprofit Management I would go to the least expensive school, yet very strong school (i.e. Syracuse), if you were more interested in working in government I would say go to Penn.
  3. I would love some advice! I've been accepted to NYU (Wagner) for an MPA and UPenn (School of Social Policy and Practice) for an MS in Social Policy and am trying to figure out which way to go. (Also accepted at the New School but think I've ruled that out).I would like to work in local government or do research afterwards and am most interested in housing policy. NYU: I love the program and the faculty I met on their visit days. I live in NYC currently and work in community development, so I am quite familiar with and interested in the city's policies. I would like to work in NYC post-graduation. I received a 75 percent scholarship, but the program will still be pretty expensive due to living expenses. The program was just ranked #7 by U.S. News and World Report (as many of you know). UPenn: I am very interested in the research of a faculty member there (its actually one of the things that helped me decide to go to graduate school). I also am from Philadelphia originally and could live at home. This makes the overall cost pretty low as it is also a one year program. The only drawbacks are that the program is only in its third year and is pretty small, so there weren't really many stats on job placement after graduation. I wouldn't mind working in Philly after, either. I don't know how much it matters but IVY League? Thanks for all and any help!
  4. Desi, I know you were debating it before, but will you be attending school full-time and work part-time, vice versa, or give up the job? I am trying to figure something similar out myself? Thanks!
  5. This is a big issue for me too, as I am nearly finished paying off my undergraduate loans and not really looking forward to undertaking more. I think I am looking to borrow between $25,000 - $40,000, depending how much I might be able to work. I don't want to borrow anything but Stafford loans.
  6. I finally heard from Wagner -- an acceptance! Hooray! No word on money yet.
  7. The only school for which I've heard about funding is Milano at the New School, where I recived a 75 percent tuition scholarship.
  8. Hi Sonjad, Congrats on your accpetances! Did you here from the New School via email or postal mail? Thanks!
  9. I feel your pain! For some reason I had a feeling I would hear back from at least one program today, but no matter how much I seem to refresh my inbox nothing appears! I guess no news is better than bad news!
  10. When I completed my application at the end of October, there was no optional essay...I beleive they added it later in the year. So, obviously, I did not complete it. As for my stats I have four years nonprofit work experience (writing/development); GRE 620 V, 550 Q, 4.5 A; GPA 3.8, undergraduate major/minor: journalism/poly sci. Hopefully those GRE scores won't hurt me too much....
  11. I've applied to Wagner but heard nothing yet. Did you get an email notification? Congrats!
  12. No replies to mine either, I've applied to NYU (Wagner) The New School (Milano) and UPenn (Social Policy and Practice).
  13. Nearly all of the results posted have been for PhD programs. Is that due to the population most using this site or are PhD applicants generally notified earlier than MA or MPA (in my case) applicants?
