Yeah, might as well claim one of those UCSB rejections. My last choice, and no chance that I would attend, thanks to the Minnesota acceptance, but rejection always stings. Santa Barbara is a fantastic department, and I'm sure I would have been happy there, but I'm mostly just annoyed that I bothered to fill out their application, which was easily the biggest pain in the ass of the whole process. Ah, well, hindsight and all that. Happy February to all, and good luck!

Oh, I don't know. If you're only accepted to one program, I imagine that simplifies the process greatly.

Just got an email from Northwestern University...[heart skips a beat]...'s Medill School of Journalism. Some random brochure. Time to start up a new game...

I miss Civ4 so much--Civ5 just doesn't have the same charm. Europa Universalis III is another great strategy game to lose yourself in.

I do have to admit that all this has been pretty entertaining, in a guilty, soap opera-ish kind of way. Unfortunate that the trolls are beginning to emerge from the woodwork, though.

Hey all, I'm a longtime lurker, but I'm another one of those who received an acceptance e-mail from Minnesota. Excited as hell and breathing a sigh of relief. I didn't know I had it in me to get into a good PhD program, and I was more than slightly convinced I'd have to move back in with my parents next year. Now to hear from the other five...
