  1. How long after the interview did they take? I am still waiting to hear back from ASU 2.5 weeks.
  2. Congratulations Biotechstudent on UNC acceptance! Do you feel better? How does UNC fit into your plans? I don't know anything about them but it seems like a popular program. It should be a lot closer to home. Anyway, you've got some choices now. Maybe more good news will be on the way.
  3. On advice of my mentor I have "committed" to Purdue (it was my second choice) but now that I went to my interview with ASU I am more impressed with their research. I thought I was done with the process but now am having second thoughts.
  4. Keeping our fingers crossed for you. It makes it hard to type..,...... Congrats! Glad you got to live where you will be happy.
  5. Banksy, Are you going to be interviewing with ASU Biodesign? Just got back from weekend there last night. There were only about 12 of us. The interviews were kind of disorganized. My grad student interview was substituted 5 minutes before we met. She didn't even know what to do. Nice campus and great lab but was told cost of housing was high. The lab also feels like a fish bowl- all glass (with rocket fuel being grown in tubes on the roof).
  6. Keep your spirits up. I can't figure how these things are chosen. The numbers on some of the admits are all over the board. I am shocked at my admit. I took the GRE 2 times and forgot to send the second much better scores (+10 overall points) to Purdue. Fingers crossed. Hoping for the best for both of you.
  7. My campus was hit be a tornado yesterday
  8. Saw this on the list this morning: Purdue University Biological Sciences, PhD (F13) Interview via E-mail on 6 Feb 2013 ♦ I 9 Feb 2013
  9. Congrats! Do you have any specifics yet?
  10. Congratulations! Someone said earlier to bring 'official copies of your transcript' ... My school charges $7 for official copies. Can you just bring photo copies? About how many would you suggest? Is there any other documents you suggest that I bring to the interviews? CV? Research Prospectus? ?????????????????????
  11. SO......... Where are you going?
  12. I know exactly how you feel. I had been trying to be positive and figure out what my fall back would be. Logically you know that you will figure something out eventually. Despite the acceptance.. I still worry that someone is going to call or email that it was all just a mistake. Congratulations to everyone else!!!... except those getting accepted at UT Austin (kidding .....been under review for 4 months and no word...)
  13. You got to talk to Professor X ....... What kind of program did you say you were applying too? I need to get some sleep.....
  14. Well, you might think that Purdue is in the middle of nowhere, but it can't be any worse than Mississippi.. ... though without the hurricanes.....
  15. Congratulation! What is your feeling about Purdue? DId you get funding info. right away?
  16. Banksy, Did you get the ASU conflict straightened out?
  17. First Acceptance Purdue PULSe program - #2 school choice!!!! This is such a weight off my shoulders. I submitted my application in Sept. and hadn't heard ANYTHING from them since........It was a pain getting the ETS evaluations though so maybe they deleted some of the competition. Tuition, 80% medical, Stipend $23,000 first year (minimum) 2nd- years funded by lab but stipend will be at least $23,000 Visit weekend Feb. 28th- March 1 BTW (how do you add the lists at the bottom? I have tried to figure it out no dice....)
  18. Biochem, Did you interview at ASU. If so what was your impression. I have 1 interview and it is with the Bo-Design program end of Feb. They are affiliated with the Biochem departs. In fact if I read right, I can chose to rotate through the Chem and Biochem department labs......
  19. Congrats! Gives me hope that there is still a chance.
  20. Good Luck! Love your Uname.
  21. I am in almost exactly the same boat. 1 of my early apps. was finished in Nov. and has been "in review" ever since. I have seen 1 reject for that program and 2 invites. It is maddening......
  22. Doc, Are there any other schools that you can put up with? With a written SOP I have managed to remodel it for a new school and can now easily get an application in within a week (LOR's are the only problem) I have finally got an interview and it was one I started 3 days before the deadline (I thought it was actually the priority deadline) I am probably going to work on one this weekend for the Feb 1 date. As one of my LOR writers said "spread your applications far and wide.....funding it tight this year."
  23. I have been lurking here for a while but really felt outclassed. I found this forum right before the Dec. deadlines and realized I didn't know what I was doing. My university hasn't really been supportive when it comes to an undergrad applying to Doctoral programs. I have a required class this semester that covers everything I probably needed to know before I started this processs. Oh well..... I was frantic up until today. I got my first Interiew with ASU -Biodesign. What do I do now? Undergrad Institution: Mid sized State School not known for much outside of the state. Major(s): Microbiology Minor(s): Chemistry GPA in Major: 3.65 Overall GPA: 3.65 Position in Class: top 5% Type of Student: Domestic male GRE Scores (revised/old version): Q: 158 V: 169 W: 4.0 B: Research Experience: 1 Summer REU Texas A&M poster presentation, 1 summer at school graduate lab, Honor's Thesis Awards/Honors/Recognitions: Honor's, Microbiology Scholarship Pertinent Activities or Jobs: NA Any Miscellaneous Accomplishments that Might Help: Special Bonus Points: LOR from Department Head Any Other Info That Shows Up On Your App and Might Matter: Applying to Where: Applied to (9/11): MIT - Microbiology, Texas A&M - Biochemistry, Cornell - BMCMB, UTAustin - CMB, Purdue - PULSE, Georgia Tech - MCB, Indiana U - MCB, ASU Biodesign, Utah U - Molecular Interviews (4/24): ASU - Biodesign (today yeah! first) Accepted (0/24):
