  1. I did! I was accepted to Ohio University with funding. Brandeis rejected me.
  2. I've accepted my offer at Boston University (off the waitlist). It was a rough season for me, but now I'm thrilled about how it turned out.
  3. Maryland doesn't expect to go to their waitlist. They're only taking four people this year.
  4. I was given a similar response, though mine was worded a bit differently.
  5. However, those facts mean little without comparison to your other options. That's definitely relevant.
  6. I looked over CUNY's recent graduates and placement pages awhile ago, and I was struck by a few things. One, they don't have a spectacular placement record. Two, a lot of their faculty doesn't seem to advise dissertations. In fact, I don't remember seeing a lot of the bigger names listed as advisors.
  7. I think, since those people already have profiles up on the site, that they may be the admitted students last year. But I'm probably just being optimistic.
  8. Thanks for answering so many of my questions! Best of luck wherever you end up.
  9. One more question (sorry!): what are your research interests? Hopp made it sound like who gets picked off the waitlist is largely dependent on research interests/incoming class makeup.
  10. Do you know where you were on the list? I'm assuming that since you got into other places, probably in the upper group?
  11. Same situation here. Weird that only one waitlist has been posted.
  12. That's very odd. Hoping an acceptance is still in my future, but who knows. Either way, congrats!
  13. Well, superhamdi, the UCSB thing is getting even more confusing. Now they've rejected a few people and accepted two over the course of nearly a month.
  14. I've got CUNY and UMass as maybes still because CUNY hasn't waitlisted anyone and the only two UMass admits both received the Puryear, making me think they might be waiting for funding details before admitting more. Toronto is probably a rejection, but maybe a waitlist? No way to tell. UCSB is killing me. Honestly, I'd be cool with any acceptances. I'm optimistic about getting accepted off the waitlist at BU, less so about Maryland. It'd be nice to know something definite about my future, though.
  15. A few. UMass, Toronto, CUNY, and Brandeis.
  16. Yes, I had contacted Dr. Rey. But he made it sound in his email like he was sending out waitlist notifications in the near future.
  17. For people with multiple admissions: when do you think you'll start notifying departments that you've declined? I have an interest in this since I've only been waitlisted as opposed to accepted. Of course, some people have a lot of schools left to hear from, so they probably don't want to decline or accept any offers until they have all their options.
  18. Second Michigan post, so I'd assume they're legit.
  19. I'm in a similar position. Waiting on CUNY, Toronto, UCSB, UMass, Ohio, and Brandeis, with another waitlist at Maryland. At least a few of those I would choose over BU.
  20. I'm rooting for you! (Though admittedly it's because I want to get accepted off of BU's!)
  21. Some people have reservations about staying in school longer than necessary. I'm not one of those people. Another year as a student can't really hurt, or so it seems to me.
  22. I should also add that Dr. Hopp mentioned there were 204 applicants and they want to admit six students this fall.
  23. I got it at 7:30. It seemed like a personal email, though it may very well have been a well-written form letter with my name on top. No idea if they're still sending them out. If anyone else got waitlisted, I'd be eager to hear what your impression was of the email. Mine seemed positive about possibly getting a real offer.
  24. Waitlisted at BU! Here's hoping this is a good sign.
