  1. What are you interested in hearing about? I can claim one of those schools...
  2. Why not interview potential candidates?? This would seem feasible to me once you narrow down the pool...
  3. IR. You? I'm guessing we won't have to wait for more than a couple of days at this point...
  4. Ok, Columbia, time to put me out of my misery! Let's go. This is the last time I'll complain about it (in this forum at least).
  5. What up Colubmbia?? Why haven't I heard from you?
  6. Just checked... still says "under review"
  7. IR. Nothing interesting really... $22K stipend, which seems like the standard for most places
  8. I literally just got the email and it definitely didn't look like a blast. Hang in there... still plenty of time!
  9. Yeah, I also asked to be considered for the MA program, so maybe that's it. Not sure why I bothered. I already have a masters and definitely don't plan on doing another...
  10. HHmm, haven't heard anything from Columbia. Me wonders, what does that mean?
  11. This is a good sign re: Yale. My guess is acceptance or waitlist.
  12. Anybody else ready for the admissions process to be over with??
  13. Seconded, I thought it was gonna be a huge week. Guess this will make next week all the more crazy
  14. Interesting. Maybe they're waiting to notify people on a waitlist? I haven't seen any waitlisters yet on the results board. Would be interested to hear how it turns out for you...keep us posted!
  15. This question might have already been asked, but is Yale doing interviews this year?
  16. Well, if your old phone goes to a voicemail box, then my guess is that they would have left a message and not realize you didn't get it. If it says "this number has been disconnected" or whatever, then they'd probably send an email. Sounds like a good excuse to call the grad administrator there... might be able to get a good sense of your status. Either way, as Tavis Smiley likes to say, "keep the faith".
  17. Yes, just to clarify, the case I described is likely a rare one but it does happen.
  18. Very legit questions. I know for sure that Chicago "recruits" people per se from their own master's program. That is to say, if you do good work, they'll ask you to apply to the PhD program with the tacit understanding that you'll get accepted. But, if you already have a master's, it's a big risk paying for another not knowing if you'll get in.
  19. Ugh, no word from Stanford or Yale, but scanning my junk folder, I see I'm being heavily recruited by the University of Phoenix :-) I'll take what I can get!
  20. Yup, that works. Lots of green on that page, which got my heart going for a split second. This one is gonna hurt when the decision finally comes through...
  21. Any Columbia IR admits out there? Bueller? Bueller?
  22. So, is it safe to say if you applied to Berkeley but haven't heard, you're toast?
  23. THanks all! Huge surprise and relief
