Second. I was not interviewed either. So I am a little bit confused about the email. Moreover, as far as I know, Emory's class size is extremely small (five to six). How many people are waitlisted normally?

Just received an ambiguous email from the Director of Graduate Admissions at Emory as follows: ----- Dear Mr. XXX, I am writing you with an update on the status of your application to the Emory Ph.D. program. We are unable to make you an offer of admission at this point; however, this may change as the spring semester unfolds. The department is very impressed with you. We anticipate that you will have many options this spring and understand that you may not be available if and when we become able to make you an offer. That said, if you remain interested, I am happy to answer any questions that you might have about our program or our admissions process. If you have to make a decision and are still interested in Emory, please call or email and I will update you immediately about your status. I wish I were writing with an admission offer, as I think you will fit well in our program. ----- It seems that I am waitlisted, but I cannot clarify my status because of the euphemism. Can anybody help me?

Just finished a Skype interview with POI at Vanderbilt. The POI said that their goal admit number is around 10 and final decisions would be made in Mid-February. BTW, Michigan makes me shudder Edit: Grammar error

I'm in at Iowa. The DGS emailed me and said that they will also provide me with funding. So happy

Just finished my first interview with the DGS for the polisci department at the U of Iowa, via Skype. FYI, the DGS said that the adcom will make final decisions (including both acceptances and rejections) no later than early in the next week.

I think staffs at Emory go eat after they sent bunch of rejections. Coming back, they will throw away more applications

Congrats to the new admits! BTW, the DGS for the polisci department at UIowa just emailed me and asked if I have time this week to talk briefly about my research interests and their program. I am an international applicant and according to the results on Gradcafe, it seems that Americans got their admissions via phone. So I really don't know what does this request of interview mean Do I take one step further to the acceptance?

Yep, They still do not work on merging test scores with my app. I emailed polisci department and made confirmation.
