Hi everyone,
At about 4pm today, I received an email from Boren. I didn't get that email that the rest of you got earlier this week. This email today was to inform me that the AFLI program in my country was cancelled and that I would need to look for another one. It also included a budget outline. I need to talk to the program manager on Monday because I need to make sure I fully understand what would be an appropriate substitute.
I admit to being really bummed when I didn't get the email like the rest of you but I'm hoping this is a sign that I may still be in the running. =)
Good luck everyone!
nm2233,
That was me!! I visited my husband in Morocco. =) What were you doing there?? I can see how you miss it. I really enjoyed being there...it was my second time (the first visit was a part of our honeymoon). Despite the rain, it was fabulous and amazingly nice people!!
And I applied for a fellowship too. I haven't heard anything. And while I'm trying desperately not to continue checking this site, I am becoming one of those people obsessive for news....I swore I wouldn't do that! =) So yes, I don't have any news at all and I'm assuming that is why others are quiet as well.
Good luck to you!!
Thanks Lauren2013! Morocco is pretty awesome! Beautiful and the people are very friendly. My visit was only 10 days but we did have a blast (despite some crazy front that came in and rained!!). The Fulbright has been really good for him. The work is finally starting to come together. Our only issue is that we work in two completely different places at the moment. lol
I'm not too sure, Lauren2013. I was emailed about two weeks ago regarding a small mistake on my application. It had nothing to do with the budget. So why would they send an email asking for a correction if they have already sent out budget emails? At least this is my logic. I know it was two weeks ago because I just returned from visiting my husband who is currently a Fulbright-Hays Fellow in Morocco. =) Let's keep the hope alive! =)
I've also applied for a fellowship. If it is the infamous one and is relatively similar to last year's, I have not received anything as of yet....Hang in there everyone.
I know for at least my university, they screen the scholarships before any are passed through. For the fellowships (like mine), we're on our own. We don't get screenings prior to submission. I'm not sure if other universities do the same. =)
I was quite relieved they allowed me to make a correction - a very easy fix and somewhat minor. Usually, if there is any sort of mistake, your application just gets thrown out (or so I hear), especially for these national scholarships/fellowships. So, up to this point, I'm relieved to have any sort of contact that gives me any sense that I'm still in the running for the time being.
Hi there. Thanks for starting this thread. I was beginning to wonder if there would be any current information floating around.
Like some of you, I received an email about 2 weeks ago regarding a mistake on my application. I sent the correction that day.
I haven't seen a formal budget email yet...just the survey email everyone received.
I try not to think about this too much but the anticipation is definitely difficult. Luckily (or not!), there is so much going on over the next couple of months to keep me busy! =)
Good luck to you all!
