Yeah I lost all hope already.

Anyone knows when Chicago and Michigan will announce results?

So I got three rejections already but as some of you saw yesterday on the other topic, one of them said that I could go into their adjunct archaeology M.A. program. But as an international and without funding that seems impossible however I am still curious about this option. I do have a Master's already in a different subject and lots of grad work in anthropology so another Master's in archaeology seems weird at this point especially considering my age and my having dependents and no money. But still what if we win the lottery or so?? I mean let's say we can gather 70k and come there for this one year program. What will this make? I know from experience that nothing guarantees PhD so I don't count on that but what else can this M.A. give to me except bankruptcy?

I think they want those applications payments so that the school gets money, that is my belief now, they tell everyone to consider applying and then nothing. I mean if from our email correspondence you get the idea that I won't fit there or sth just tell me so that I won't spend a fortune on these things.

Yeah the notorious full moon is coming tonight so better be. See how I gave up all logical hopes and became superstitious now.

I am feeling so down.

After all these rejections and with very difficult (and not perfect fit) schools remaining I started to think about plan B etc. but people around me are saying: you still have 4 to go, relaxxx, maybe you'll get into harrrvaardddd.... RIGHT!!!? I am really desperate.

Rejection here too. 2 on the same day. wonderful. started the day with one ending it with another.

I will ask them for sure but still... moving to another country for yet another Master's at 30 with dependents without a tangible funding and without the guarantee for PhD...ummm.. lots of factors

Aren't these people tired of saying things like "competition was high this year", "we had to decline many good students this year." bla bla. Yeah everyone is great.

I am international, it is very difficult to go there without funding for one year of school. Plus I do have Master's already (in a different subject), my B.A. was in archaeology and a wonderful one. A PhD would be just perfect why am I being tortured.

It is 8 am here and what a wonderful way to start the day. I am so sad.

Yeah personal email because they want to refer me to the M.A. program in archaeology. I am surprised,sad and unable to function! What can I do without funding?

Yeah we will see if we all go there!! Hahaha. I will bring dependents so life is a bit tough I believe, you can't have roommates etc. I have friends in different schools and disciplines (probably Ivy) getting 4000/month as stipend so I bet they are living! They used to pay for summer expenses as well when they came back to their country (i mean here). As for me I am also Bronze/Iron Age- looking into agricultural history.
