Ha I don't think anthropology is good at getting you jobs either but compared to archaeology yeah you might be right. With anthropology you get a holistic education and most schools require you to take general courses from all sub-disciplines. But I gave up all my hopes of finding a job anyway, if I do a PHd it it'll be for the pure joy of it. And no I'm not a billionaire. Plus I'm 30!

Often, the departments send out positive results earlier than negatve ones. But sometimes they don't do ti at the same time. Sometimes professors send personal emails to let you know before the official letters are sent out. Maybe these people learned directly from their professors. I think you can wait a bit more, maybe you are being wait listed.

Hi Melian I am the same way as Emma and if you are an international and been contacted then we can both lose our hopes. The may waitlist us sth but that doesn't really mean anything at this point.
