I have been accepted to Cornell University for the MS/PhD program and the financial aid decisions would be made in mid-march. I cannot afford the expenses for 5 years, so I won't be able to attend unless granted fellowship/assistantship. Do you think it is appropriate to tell the department about this? How about the professors that I want to work with (and mentioned in my SOP)? should I mail them also, and directly tell about my situation and/or ask whether they would consider funding me? thanks for the suggestions!
