Thanks for your advice! I'm from a country in east Asia and the academic system here is probably closer to the one in the US. I guess I would have less difficulty adjusting in US grad schools.

I would be grateful if anyone could give me any further idea as to how the UK PhD system works, and what the assets and drawbacks of such system are, compared to the US one (the issue of funding put aside).
