  1. Are you on the waitlist for admission or funding? I've heard nothing on funding as well.
  2. Anyone heard from GWU yet this morning?
  3. I'm in at GW waitlisted for funding and have heard nothing. On the Waitlist at UW Jackson School and have heard nothing back from them either. The 15th will certainly be interesting.
  4. I did my undergrad at USC. Even though USC is not in the best neighborhood, rent is still expensive. It's not New York or DC crazy, but it can still be pricey. You could manage on 20K a year, but obviously your dollar will go a lot farther in Charlottesville. I can't say enough good things about the IR faculty at USC however.
  5. Is it kosher to inquire about a visit day when on a wait list? No info about any recruitment day in the letter.
  6. Huge congrats! Interesting after Nexon had posted that they had notified all their admits. Must have had a spot or two that opened.
  7. GWU unfunded. Staying on with my current employer to pay the bills.
  8. Anyone know anything about the status for the Jackson School PhD at UW? I applied there sort of on a whim and I'm almost certainly not going there, but it would be nice to here back.
  9. I'm in the same position except GWU is my only admit. Not having to choose and being finished is actually a bit liberating after months of worry.
  10. Are these Georgetown rejects legit?
  11. Might want to check out SAIS. I know they have a big summer program, but not sure if they admit undergrads.
  12. Thanks! GWU is a great fit for me and I'm not surprised that I was more competitive at DC schools compared to elsewhere because of my background and interests. I also work a block from GW and my boss wants to keep me on if I end up at GW so not being funded as of yet is easier to swallow.
  13. Claiming a GWU admit! My first admittance. Thought for sure I was going to get shut out. On the wait list for funding. Very excited
  14. Well, with GW it looks like I've busted for the cycle.
  15. Knowing GU, they'll send out notices as inefficiently as possible.
  16. Think tanks, government, consulting firms mostly. GU gives the government department access to the SFS career center and database, which is a huge help (how I found my current job)
  17. I got my MA in the government department at GU (not the conflict res program) so I'm very familiar with it. I had many friends that really enjoyed their time in the program and had solid job prospects afterwards. Others thought it was a bit touchy feely and not applicable to the real world, but I guess that's the case in any conflict res program. The faculty in the GU government department are absolutely fantastic on the whole and if you want to take classes in SFS you can.
  18. Been a pretty quiet week. Was hoping my remaining schools put put me out of my misery by the weekend.
  19. Glad I'm not alone on being committed to a second round. Looking pretty clear that I'm not going to get in this time. Even just looking back on my applications a couple months later I can see where I had huge weaknesses and can really improve. Having a steady job that I enjoy and is directly relevant to my research interests certainly makes the rejections easier to take and waiting another year less of a big deal.
  20. Can't imagine Sagan would be making calls if IR spots weren't out yet. Berkeley is also an interesting case. Last year IR spots were much later than the rest, but there are so many admittances out already that I'm not sure what to think on them.
  21. In the same boat. Already thinking ahead to next cycle.
  22. Hit apply now. Check the box and hit start your application. On the next screen under "Manage Your Account" is "Review Your Activity." Log into your account and it should be there.
  23. That message was updated in my application this morning. Your application has been submitted electronically to the Department of Political Science. Do not be concerned if your application status is "incomplete." Unless you heard directly from me about missing materials, you can assume that we had everything we needed to consider your application. All applications, even those marked as "incomplete," are being considered by the committee. We expect to notify applicants of the committee's decision no later than February 20th. Thank you for your patience.
