Hi communicationz! I am on the waitlist still for Pitt... got an email from Brent Malin back on Feb. 4th. In following up, he told me that I might not hear about final decisions until after the April 15 deadline... not sure where I am on the list, either, so I was thinking of calling the office up to see if there's any hope or if I shouldn't count on them as a real option. Have you heard anything? Good luck!! -
Wondering for those who got accepted what if any funding you have received. I got a $10K scholarship ($5K per semester) plus the option of work study ($3K) and some subsidized and unsubsidized loans. Not sure if it's going to be enough of a scholarship to make it really feasible for me to go... did others receive funding packages?

Ah spring break, of course. Hopefully we'll hear early next week then! I have been accepted to two other programs so far (one PhD and one MA), waitlisted at one, and am waiting on a couple others. I'm not sure if NYU would be my first choice or not... it depends on what (if any) funding I get. I have a lot of interests when it comes to media, technology and culture, so I'm not sure what my focus would be exactly, but I'm interested in CMC and how our online identities and interactions are impacting our interpersonal relationships. I'm also interested in media and technology saturation in contemporary culture and how new media and their platforms are shaping post-postmodern American culture. Kind of broad, I know, but I'm hoping to narrow my focus in grad school with the eventual goal of getting a PhD and becoming a professor. What are you interested in? Fingers crossed for us both and hang in there as we wait!!

Ok, I just got the answer to my own question. For those interested, I received an email with my acceptance today, so they do appear to be sending out decisions on a rolling basis. No word on funding yet, and an official acceptance from the Graduate School will be coming at a later date. Good luck to all!

I'll be attending next week for the Communication Sciences PhD program. I haven't decided whether or not to accept the offer, although I am very excited about it!

Hello! I've applied to Georgetown's CCT program, among a few other Master's and PhD programs, and I noticed on the results postings that a few people received notifications of admission yesterday, March 4. I of course freaked out a bit that I hadn't received notification yet, but it appears that in past years people have received their emails (both acceptances and rejections) on a rolling basis over the course of a few days. I'm wondering if past admitted students to the program have been in my boat - waiting to hear when others have heard - and ultimately been accepted. Do they send out their notification emails in waves, as they get through batches of applications, or is a later email indicative of a rejection or no funding offer? I applied to the first round of deadlines (January 15) for scholarship consideration... does the fact that I haven't been notified yet suggest that I won't receive funding or will be rejected completely? Thanks in advance for any insight you can share, congrats to those who have been admitted, and good luck to all who are applying!

Yes, Communication Arts is the Department name, and then within the department there is Communication Science, Film, Media & Cultural Studies, and Rhetoric, Politics and Culture as the four different areas of study. All I know is that they have made decisions about the Communication Science area. Hope that helps clarify!

Don't know about the other areas of focus, but I applied to Communication Sciences at UW-Madison and was the person who posted about the interview. I just got my acceptance email from my likely advisor with full funding, but I'm not sure if other areas of focus (Comm Arts, Media Culture, etc.) are interviewing/making decisions now. Comm. Science may have been the only focus area to conduct interviews, as I guess there were fewer spots this year since they over-enrolled last year? Not sure, but don't give up hope! This is my first acceptance after a rejection and a waitlisting, so you never know til you know! Good luck to all!

For those applying to UW-Madison, to what track did you apply? I applied to the Communication Science track, had a skype interview on Jan. 18 and positive feedback from the professor in a few email exchanges afterward but haven't heard anything since Jan. 24. She said they only have 5 available spots this year and that she'd be in touch soon, but I am still waiting and the suspense is killing me!
