Yeah, that is a small beacon of hope. I also have some contacts I can talk to and see if there were any more systemic problems.
I was just talking with a friend who's a G5 about the size of the app pool this year. We're both stumped because it's supposed to shrink when the economy expands
BU rejection, which would make a grand total of 7 (two of which, Harvard and ND, are presumed) with no acceptances. Starting to wonder what in all hell I could've done wrong. Still waiting on Chicago and Harvard Divinity's MTS.
So this is probably not exactly the right place for this question, but with respect to Chicago's MAPSS, what exactly is the MA in? Do you have a MA in History, or do you have a MA in Social Science (History)? I can't find an answer to this anywhere.
Someone above compared this to a marathon. I'd say it's kind of like that, but right before the finish line all the spectators tackle you and kick you a lot.
From previous years it does look like they occasionally take people off the waitlist. It's hard to filter out the Art History noise and results from other schools. I'm liking the look of the MAPSS program, though.
Given all we know, I'm really curious as to why Harvard (and to a lesser extent ND) are holding on to their rejections.
I was not part of the Great Chicago Massacre today, but I also didn't get invited for an interview. Is this a good thing, a bad thing, or just a thing?
I don't think this is discongruous with anything I've said. I was more trying to get at not having information is not yet identical with not being admitted. I'm holding out hope because my POI is out of the country, for example.
Sorry this took a while to respond: from my history professor, at Harvard. To whit- there is a meeting with the deans this coming week at which point everything is officialized and approved.
As I said above, official Harvard decisions will be finalized by the deans next week. Anything before that is unofficial.
I was told that Harvard got fewer applications (~360) than in previous years.
With respect to Harvard, the deans meet for graduate admits next week.
Are there any other medievalists out there? I haven't heard a peep from anywhere, minus a rejection letter from UMinn, and the silence is deafening.
