  1. What are you all planning to do after the M.Ed program? I'm worried about all the debt I'd have to take on to attend HGSE if I got in. I'm sort of torn on this because on the one hand I know the Harvard brand is well respected, but on the other hand I don't necessarily want to go $65,000+ into debt for a degree that may not add much monetary value to my career.
  2. You are being really hostile for no reason. We get it, you disagree with me. Chill.
  3. People come to these forums to get up to date information about the Ed.L.D program since HGSE doesn't send out info to all applicants until March (though we know they interview candidates on Feb 28). If you are content with waiting until the official email goes out then I'm not sure why you'd frequent a forum on The Grad School Cafe where you know people will speculate on whether interview invites have gone out already. Now that I know Ed.L.D is off the table for this year, I can focus on opportunities in the edu sector or at other grad schools. I have applications out to other schools which is why I still visit this website for updates and new information, in case you were wondering.
  4. HGSE pays for the visit (airfare, hotel, food) if you are selected for an interview. However, invites have already gone out by now for sure folks. The admissions office is probably telling people to wait until the 22nd in the event that a few prospectives decide to drop out of consideration, but we all know that this is extremely unlikely. If you believe the FAQ on the Ed.L.D site, it says that interviews will be held on February 28 or March 1. Given the fact that most of the people interviewing for these spots are in high powered positions, I'm sure HGSE plans to give them at least 2-3 weeks advance notice so they can make the necessary arrangements at work.
  5. I'm pretty sure all of them have gone out already (if not last week like I heard, then at least by today) since the interviews for candidates are all held at the same time. People would need at least a couple weeks to arrange travel and days off from work.
  6. I didn't see that post and don't necessarily trust the information on this board, especially over my friends actually in the EDLD program. I will either stay at my job or go to Stanford GSB for the MBA/MA Ed program. Still waiting to hear back from them after my interview.
  7. My original post here was not a hoax. Interview invites have gone out already and I've confirmed this with people I know in the program. They are coordinating group lunches and tours already for invited candidates. Not saying this to rain on anyone's parade, but to give information in case people are still banking on EDLD as a fall option and haven't heard back yet.
  8. I'm interested to know what kind of stats people applying to the EDLD program have. Also how old are some of the applicants represented here and how many years of work experience do you have? I'll start: I'm 30 with three years of middle school teaching experience (TFA corps member) and five years of private sector experience at a management consulting firm. I've worked cases ranging from private equity to tech industry and I'm currently focusing on working with education reform oriented non profits and school districts. My GRE scores were 163 Quant, 168 Verbal and 5.0 AW. 3.7 GPA from a top public school and a teaching credential from another public school.
  9. Well I stand corrected. Great news. Good luck everyone.
  10. Did admissions say that they were not sent out yet? I heard the exact opposite from my friend who is in the program and involved with coordinating events for the selected candidates while they are in Cambridge.
  11. Unfortunately, the invites have gone out already. In the event that people decline them (who would though?) then the admissions committee may invite others to interview. Perhaps performing well in an M.Ed program at HGSE in 2013-2014 boosts your chances of getting into EDLD's next cohort?
  12. A friend of mine in an EDLD cohort let me know that interview emails have gone out already. Congrats to all who received offers to interview and good luck in a couple of weeks. It's crazy that of the 50 people invited only half will actually get into the program. Ridiculously competitive.
