  1. Thank you - this is incredibly helpful! That is too bad to hear about your crit experience - and very strange too. Given how all-consuming this application process is, the program you choose should be equally all-consuming - I can't imagine going to school to just sit and text and not pay attention. Hopefully the crit you saw is not indicative of the entire program. How was the student work? The trimester thing is odd, and incredibly expensive. So yes I would have to carefully consider this too before accepting. I'm going to visit tomorrow so I'm excited to see it all for myself. In the meantime, I was also just accepted to SAIC! No word on funding yet, but I am definitely leaning towards going there. I'm weighing the option of A. staying in LA for my MFA at Art Center, which will certainly open up more opportunities here with such an amazing faculty, or B. going to Chicago, which is a very prestigious program but more removed from where I would be trying to build a life, since I would most likely move back to LA afterwards. Thoughts on the benefits of location v. prestige? (Not saying the Art Center isn't prestigious, because it is, but SAIC is certainly a bigger name.) Anyway, hopefully you get my point. I was also just rejected from UCLA, which I'm trying to ignore, ha.
  2. Thanks! It came in the mail on Saturday. I live in LA though, so would imagine that the other letters are still going out. Good luck!
  3. What are everyone's thoughts on Art Center College of Design? I was accepted to their MFA program, it is in LA and the faculty members are all impressive artists. It is a small program and is also is ranked well - #18, higher than USC and UC Irvine, for example (not that rankings are everything, mind you). I'm just wondering why I haven't heard mention of it yet in this forum. Thoughts? I'm going to visit the school this week to get a better sense of it. Thanks!
  4. i also haven't heard from risd printmaking... it's making me a little crazy. isn't it getting a little late for interview requests / initial contact from a dept? i don't know what to think!
  5. RISD printmaking update: I was just told of someone who said they received an acceptance last week without an interview. I had thought that they always interviewed though. Can anyone verify this either way? I'm not sure if it's true or just hearsay. Any info would be much appreciated! Thanks!
  6. Ahh thanks. I guess another one bites the dust (meaning me). This is all too much. You have some great options though, congrats. Fingers crossed for Risd!
  7. Have any works on paper applicants heard from Hunter? And what is up with Risd printmaking - have I missed the boat, or are others still waiting on them too?
  8. Correction: they were reviewing people starting this past Monday
  9. Someone earlier this week mentioned that they knew a RISD printmaking grad, and this person said that they were reviewing people starting on Monday. So hopefully no news is good news for the moment...
  10. also, re: UCLA - yes. what is going on there? their admissions process doesn't seem to have any rhyme or reason to it.
  11. the USC deadline was fairly recent - Feb 1. Considering that some of us are still waiting on schools with deadlines in early Jan, I personally think it is safe to say that it is a bit early to expect to hear from USC. That said, I don't have any info on them at all either... this is just my own reasoning.
  12. Thanks, good to know.... I wonder if printmaking has sent out interview emails yet. What program did you apply to at RISD?
  13. Have any painters or printmakers heard from RISD yet?
  14. SAIC Deadline: Jan 10th Request for interview: Feb 11th-15th (via snail mail) Interview: March 2nd or 3rd, depending on dept. Acceptance: ? Rejection: ?
