I have been disgussing/petitioning for more money from my acceptances, however, if the funding does not swing in my favor this year I will be looking for various individual grants or fellowships to apply for. Does anyone have any suggestions?

About a week ago someone posted a link to and organization that provides information on various grants, fellowships and other support for working artists and transitional artists. I think it was something like the Foundation Center? Does anyone recall what I am referring to? I appreciate any help.

In order to remain in the forefront of our minds, MICA is notifying by snail mail. I was concerned when I received the 15th announcement being that I had not received an interview. In their response the mentioned notifications (both good and bad) were scheduled to be mailed on the 15th.

I have been enjoying the conversation about Baltimore and other cities with up and coming contemporary art scenes. Does anyone else want to weigh in on cities they feel are giving rise to quality contemporary art? I am looking for a good balance of relevant, accessible and affordable. Thanks all!

Who has word from MassArt for painting/interdisciplinary?

I applied for the Painting Department. I live in NC so I can't imagine a letter would take too much longer arrive here. I know they are not accepting many to the program this year so my expectations are not too robust. It is appalling what one can do to themselves internally when left in a state of limbo though. I appreciate you sharing though.

beards, Do you mind telling me what is listed when you check your application status at VCU? Here is the link. When I check my status it says "complete and ready for review" but from what I understand all the reviews have taken place. I have yet to hear anything from them and cannot get anyone to answer the phone in the painting/printmaking department. Like many I would prefer to know that I am rejected rather than have a lingering hope.

nudibranches, I see that you have listed a rejection from VCU. Did you receive a formal rejection or are you assuming rejection based on silence? I have yet to hear anything from them.

Anyone with word from Pratt painting/studio?

I received the same email for the painting department and contacted the admission office regarding interview procedures. They responded: "We will interview some candidates at our discretion. However, not all interviewee are admitted, and not all admitted are interviewed. Generally, we ask applicants to try not to infer too much about interviews". I haven't seen anyone on here reporting notice of any communication from MICA thus far this year. Hope this helps.

Just recieved notice that I have been placed on a short waitlist for Boston University's painting program. Anyone with notification of accptance or know what funding options they are offering? I hope the waitlist is wicked short. I like their program quite a lot.
