  1. I suspect Stanford's admissions system is not designed for us, the neurotic.
  2. Mark me down as a no for Stanford as well. Letter finally uploaded.
  3. Second to that. What the heck? I thought it was just me. There is no update to the activity page, just the same "Submitted" status.
  4. Truly amazing. Now perhaps one of the more difficult choices you'll ever have to make.
  5. Feel exactly the same way. 4 programs left to hear back from. I'd like to be able to mentally start making the decision as to where it is I'm headed. Lots of school work to do to keep me occupied, but it hasn't prevented me from taking a look here and at my email frequently.
  6. Congrats to a fellow UCSB admit!! Hope to see you in March at the open house. Also – Did I just see the first Stanford rejection? Or am I hallucinating? Anyone else get word from them? I haven't seen anything yet.
  7. Probably not this year as I'll be dealing with moving to wherever I decide to do my PhD program/taking a nice vacation from work. I highly recommend it though. I quite enjoyed it last year, learned a lot, and made many new friends. Also - the NW is my favorite area to be in, so very nice to have an excuse to head there every summer.
  8. First - Greetings fellow DHer! Much to be said, and I'll try to double back this evening (as one does with thegradcafe). What I would note is that while there are some obvious DH centers in the US, Canada in general is very strong in digital humanities and because of government humanities grants and some new private funding, it will likely only get stronger. We also have a really good community up here as well and are in regular contact about collaborative projects. If you want to see some of that in action and meet people, highly recommend you check out the Canadian Society of DH conference in Ottawa this June, and of course DHSI in Victoria afterward.
  9. Congrats!!! I was hoping you'd get something, even better that it's at College Park, and not too far away. If it helps, I feel that doing a partially funded MA definitely increased my potential for PhD work. Though to be sure, I've got debt that needs paying off now because of it – so I understand why it's not preferable.
  10. Really don't know what to say about GRE scores. My general GREs are quite high, but my lit score is low. Got into 2 great programs thus far. I'm thinking writing samples, letters, etc. far outweigh standardized testing. Oh, and add one more Columbia denial to the pile of corpses. The schools I'm more keen on are still to come though...
  11. Congrats to all the accepts today! I feel like there's so many. Saw windrainfireandbooks' KCL admit - amazing!! In other news, I too got the reject notice from U. Nebraska. Given my background, it's very surprising. But again it was definitely a place I was very hesitant to live in, despite the great DH program/community. Congrats to those who got in!
