  1. Thank you @lobsterphone for that information. I have decided against SAIS after talking to a current professor. It sounds like a wonderful program, but it lacks the humanitarian focus I'm looking for, and the curriculum is generally too structured to allow me to self-design a concentration the way I'd like to. Best of luck to all of you! P.S.- I do have a friend at the Bologna campus who absolutely loves it. He is doing European studies and cannot say enough wonderful things about his classmates and the Bologna campus.
  2. Hi Wanderlust, I'm leaning towards enrolling in the GHD program as well. I did attend Admitted Students Day, and was definitely impressed! I'm going to be talking with someone from SAIS IDEV (where I got way better funding) tomorrow so hopefully after that I'll have a better idea...
  3. Thanks, @Revolution. Do you know much about their humanitarian focus? (I'm talking with a professor on Saturday, but it'd be great to have other opinions!)
  4. Hey there everyone! I've been accepted to the SAIS Bologna IDEV program for Fall 2013. I'm deciding between SAIS (great funding) and the Georgetown MA in Global Human Development (no funding). My career goals are in the humanitarian assistance sector, ideally with an NGO though I'm sure I'll move between public, private, and non-profit, as that seems to be the trend nowadays. I have been leaning away from SAIS since the focus seems to be more on quanitative analysis and theory than on project design and implementation, but it's hard to ignore a great funding offer. I'd love any of your opinions on the subject. Thanks a ton!
  5. Recently accepted to the SAIS Bologna campus for International Development (funding coming soon?), AU SIS for Development Management (half tuition + 12k research assistantship/year), and GWU for International Development Studies (10k/year). I'm still pretty sold on Georgetown's GHD program, though a little funding from them would make all the difference.
  6. Hey everyone, Certainly let me know what you'd like me to ask about at admitted students day; PM or post here. I'm starting to think I might be the only one there! Also, as a few other resources, some applicants from last year provided some very detailed descriptions of the program. If you haven't read them, they were really helpful for me in applying. Also, if you haven't been in touch with their program coordinator, I recommend emailing or calling her. I met with her before applying and she gave me a much better idea of what the program is like.
  7. I'm hoping to attend (I live in DC) so I'll share anything I find particularly interesting. I do hope some scholarship funding comes through for you!
  8. Thanks ASEANdumpling for the news. I figured as much... are you going to attend the admitted students day?
  9. Just got the email that I was accepted into the Georgetown GHD program yesterday! I really didn't expect to get in so I'm thrilled! I didn't hear anything about funding, but I'm hoping the official acceptance includes some funding... fingers crossed!
