  1. I thought it was great. I hadn't realized that they're building a new clinic currently (right across from the current building meaning tons of construction going on) but it is supposed to be done for fall 2014. Even so, the clinic they currently have is quite nice. There is a great student lounge area for grad students the likes of which I haven't seen elsewhere. The building itself is a bit of a 70s style monstrosity but seems well maintained. I got to meet a few people, all of whom were very welcoming and I had a very positive overall impression of the program. I think they have already sent funding info by postal mail. As far as Evanston goes, it happens to be my favorite place in the world. My boyfriend is an Evanston native and I have lived there with him and his family over school breaks the last few years, so I know it pretty well. Downtown near the school is great - awesome food and cafes - and I have always felt pretty safe. It is a city and you have to be aware of yourself like you do anywhere, and certainly there are safer pockets than others (for instance, gang violence has been on the rise but it happens in a very concentrated area that is not very near Northwestern where I doubt any grad students would be living). The schools are great, and obviously there are fabulous opportunities in the area for placements. Public transportation is pretty good and it is quite convenient to get into Chicago because the El extends into Evanston. If anyone wants to know more about Evanston, let me know. I love it there and am happy to talk about it.
  2. I visited Northwestern today and the woman I met with was able to pull up the funding information -- no money for me. Shucks.
  3. Has anyone heard anything about funding? Or...anything from the program itself at all?
  4. I am in the process of visiting all of my schools before I make a decision. I think BU is my first choice but it is hard to consider choosing such an expensive school when I got into such great and affordable ones like the University of Minnesota Twin Cities.
  5. Nothing here either. I am dying to go to BU but didn't receive any sort of scholarship. I asked Michelle Mentis if the scholarships of those who turn down their offers will be offered to those of us who were not originally offered one, and she said they aren't in a position to offer more scholarships. Seems like an odd answer to me...
  6. Just out of curiosity, how are you getting that number? I have it at even higher than that.
  7. Ahhhh, I got into Northwestern too! So exciting! Congrats, tuckerma and miscarthur. Anyone get funding? Probably would have been in the letter, huh?
  8. I'm doing my first visit tomorrow...going to see UM-Twin Cities. I'm really excited to finally get started on the official decision-making process. I've been anxiously doing the math and such, but now I finally get to SEE a school!
  9. I was trying to figure out if I was hallucinating...I could have sworn earlier your signature said that you had gotten into ASU! That really sucks...but congrats on Vandy!
  10. The cost of grad school is really starting to bum me out. I just want to be able to go to the school that looks like the best fit for me, rather than agonizing over whether I need to choose a cheaper school out of practicality.
  11. Thank you! Hmm, it was a blank email with the letter of acceptance attached with the name "Letter of Accpetance MA SLP mylastname.doc" (with the misspelling, haha). Fingers crossed for you! I wanted to go to the open house but I'll be arriving back in Illinois for spring break that day and there wasn't enough wiggle room.
  12. I'm not really sure what my top choice is. I'm visiting them all over the next month and then I'll make a decision. I was hoping there would be a scholarship that would sweeten the deal somewhere and make the choice easier, but no such luck. At the moment, I'm thinking MGH.
  13. I just got into the University of Illinois - Urbana/Champaign! What a crazy week. Hugs and good thoughts for everyone!
  14. Just the post-bacc program! Wouldn't a guarantee be nice... How did you like doing your post-bacc there?
  15. One person on the results page posted about being offered a scholarship -- darn.
  16. I think I remember reading on the results page that there was one around the end of March last year!
  17. How is it only 10:21pm? I doubt they're going to be posting them right at midnight, but I'm going to be up anyway and am so anxious to check...
  18. That's a great attitude, and it's so true. Prestige isn't everything. I'm just annoyed out of principle -- stop stringing you along already!
  19. jmarti37, still no word from UNC-CH? I'm annoyed for you at this point!
  20. This is as stressful as watching my status change from "awaiting program review" to "final review" to "decision made" and having to wait another 24 hours for a decision from UM-Twin Cities.
  21. It might not happen right at midnight. I think it's probably more likely to happen during the day tomorrow sometime. But maybe I'm wrong...
  22. Literally 5 minutes ago. So much stalking. I'm only a second-semester senior, what else do I have to do with my time?
