I ended up sending an email last night. They review apps next week - during their spring break. Somehow I think I already knew this and forgot about it through all the hype .
It's a small town/university/program...but I can tell you that the professors that I encountered in the department during my four years of undergrad are passionate about what they do. I know the university might not be well known, or be high ranking...but I don't think that's always a good indicator of the program or the professors. And then again, not everyone has the same experience. Just givin' ya my two - albeit unsolicited - cents.
No worries meangreen...I don't even know how the +1 -1 thing works anyway. Yes, positive thoughts...many many positive thoughts. I wish I would have applied while I was still an undergrad...at least then I would have had school work to keep me occupied through the waiting period.
Hi Knighty! I graduated from Edinboro last May and am also waiting to hear from them. I never thought I'd come across another EUP applicant on here. As for their decisions, I have not heard any specific dates - but the MASLP website says the initial decisions are made before April 1st. I will let you know if I hear anything...I may just end up emailing one of my professors because I'm so impatient.
I'm not in the exact position you're in, but I have also applied to my alma mater's grad program. Like you, I have thought about (if given the chance) whether to stay with the program, professors and surroundings I am familiar with, or to try something new. I do agree with others that trying a new program could have many benefits and potentially open a few doors for you.
Not sure how much time you have to decide, but would it be possible for you to visit the "new" school and familiarize yourself a bit more? You probably already have, I dunno. Just a thought.
One thing I learned I learned through my undergrad years is that the experience greatly depends on what you make of it and what you put into it. Personally, I think if you welcome the new experience, you could see great returns.
Thank you! I still have seven schools to hear from and while I am hoping for good news, I am trying to remind myself that everything will work out as it should. I am glad you've enjoyed your experience but I hope you get some great news this year too!
Seems as though more people have gotten acceptances since I've last been on - congrats to all of you! And for those of you still waiting (as I am), I am sending good thoughts your way .
Just out of curiosity, could you tell me what the requirements are in Texas for an SLPA position? I'm considering all options if I don't get accepted anywhere this year - including relocating if need be.
This seems to be a common theme. My school had an undergrad club that would have an info session every year. Current grad students would come and speak about their experiences and offer advice. A few of the professors would also come and go over things like what you could do with an undergrad degree, and so on. It was something that I found very helpful...but even now I wish there had been even more discussion, or maybe I should have asked more questions.
And just because I feel like being grumbly...I wish grad school decisions came with tracking numbers.
I've been ordering things online lately...this way I know I'll get something fun in the mail while I keep waiting .
mocha - Thanks for the UNC details, it's nice to know to be expecting something soon. Congrats on your acceptance!
jmarti - I'm in the same boat as you as far as UNC...at least we know a decision is coming.
Congrats to everyone who has been accepted somewhere, and best wishes to those still waiting!
Yeah, I suppose that wouldn't really be a logical method. Hopefully they don't make us wait too much longer. I think I'm just getting carried away.,,I've been anxiously checking my e-mail and snail mail daily , even though I know it's too early for most places I've applied.
Does UNC-CH review applications by submission date? Anyone know? I know it's a far reach for me, but I keep doing what everyone else seems to be doing...looking at these results coming in and wondering where my decision is - one way or another. Somehow I think finding this site has made me more impatient.
Hello All,
Just found this site tonight and decided to join in. I'm an in-major applicant - applied to 8 schools. UNC - Chapel Hill, Gallaudet, IUP, EUP, Bloomsburg, Clarion, WCU, and ESU. I've applied mostly in PA (where I live) to save on tuition. Like most of you (I assume), I am anxiously awaiting decisions and trying not to go crazy and fill my head with negative what-ifs.
Best of luck to all!
