  1. Hey everyone! I am an undergrad at the University of Iowa and I just officially accepted their offer of admission today I was hoping to get to know everyone who will be attending in the fall, and also to find a roommate or two!
  2. Thank you!! I received a letter in the mail today with the scholarship offer. Good luck to you guys!
  3. Whitewater has started notifying people, good luck!!
  4. I received an email from Whitewater today, so yours should be coming soon! Good luck!!!
  5. Thank you so much! What do you like or not like about EIU? I noticed that you did not apply there, why is that? I hope you had a great visit in Virginia!
  6. I totally agree with you. It is just easier said than done! Another factor is the fact that I am currently an undergrad at Iowa, and I have been happy and treated very well here too. That just adds to the difficulty of the decision, along with another offer that I just received. It will be a tough decision. Congrats on your acceptance and good luck with your decision! We will all end up where we are supposed to
  7. Thank you! After grad school I want to be an SLP in an elementary school and I don't think I would ever pursue a PhD, so it makes the decision all the more difficult. I know Eastern is the perfect fit for me, but I don't know how I could pass up Iowa's offer, which is also a great school. I don't know how I am going to decide, but I am very grateful to be in this position. I hope to decide soon, so that I can open up an opportunity to someone out there who is on the waitlist, and also to add an assistantship to someone's already exciting acceptance
  8. I totally agree and can relate to that statement. I think there is much more to a school than their ranking. I have been fortunate enough to be offered an assistantship at both Iowa and Eastern Illinois, and although Iowa may be ranked as a "better" school, it is going to be a very tough decision for me. I applied to Eastern Illinois because of the quality and clinical emphasis of their program and the accessibility of their faculty. I personally visited with several faculty members and the department chair and they couldn't have been more welcoming and caring, yet challenging in their approach to the education they promise you. I think it is more important to find a school that is the right "fit" for you, rather than automatically attending the school of the highest ranking that you are accepted into.
  9. I agree that grades should be standardized too. Not only because some schools don't give A+s, but others don't do A-s either. At these schools someone getting a 90% in every class would have a 4.0, and at my school it would be a 3.66, which is a huge difference. I was a little upset CSDCAS made my GPA slightly lower too because it didn't count A+s like my school does, but I think it alters our GPAs to make everything as standardized and comparable as possible.
  10. You can get above a 4.0 because we have the +/- system. So a 90-92% is an A- which is a 3.66, and you need a 93% to get an A (4.0). A few teachers allow an A+ if you get 99-100% in the class. While rare, an A+ gets a numeric grade of 4.33. So you could graduate with 92% in all of your classes and have a cumulative GPA of 3.66, or get lucky and get all As and a couple A+s and get a 4.08.
  11. Are there any current Illinois State undergrads out there? What is it like to go there? Last year they announced early March, so hopefully we will be hearing from them soon!
  12. Hi badgerina - I'm new to this forum, but I just thought I would let you know what I know about Marquette. I am not sure about unsubsidized Stafford loans, but the assistantships, tuition scholarships and fellowships were all announced in the letters from the postal service. I received mine on Monday, so I would think you would be getting yours soon!
