  1. Hello, I'm applying to urban planning programs this fall. I have a BFA in art (graduated 5 years ago), and I currently work at university library, where I'm using my tuition benefit to prepare for grad school, and I've taken two urban studies courses with the same professor. For my 3 LORS, I'm going to get one from my urban studies professor, who knows me very well. I'm planning on getting one from my boss. The problem is, since both of my courses I've taken so far were with the same prof, I'm not sure who to get for the third! I'm taking another urban studies class this fall- should I wait until after midterms and hope that the professor will write me a letter? Or should I attempt to contact a professor from my undergraduate fine arts program- though to be honest I wasn't happy with my education there and I haven't kept in touch with anyone. Deadlines are in January.
  2. Hello, I am a new person with a question. I have a BFA in Printmaking from a good school, good GPA. I am very skilled at technical drawing and I've played around with AutoCAD and Maya (mostly self-taught). I was always interested in architecture and I made a lot of art about structure and shape and buildings and theory (wooo art school). Since graduating, I've worked in an architectural library, so I have a background in the history of American architecture, technical terms, etc. I know that this might make me a stronger candidate for historic preservation, but I really want to focus on design. Any advice on what I should do to prepare for grad school? I am going to take calculus and physics at my local community college. Should I try to take drafting classes at a technical college? At this point I probably know more about architecture studios from centuries past than about being an architect in real life today, so any advice at all on how to make this transition would be really helpful.
