  1. This has been a wonderful place to "drop in" from time to time. The support among this group has been really lovely. I wish every one of you nothing but greatness… Paula Vogel has stated age shouldn't matter -- so that's good enough for me. (Granted, I'm 26… But I believe age should not be a factor when considering playwrights.) I've signed my Letter of Acceptance to Carnegie Mellon's MFA Program and I'm mailing it in tomorrow morning!! This has been a long, long journey and I'm very proud of my acceptances into CalArts and Carnegie Mellon. I've learned a lot from this application process -- but it feels fantastic to close this door and open another one to what lies ahead!! Break a leg, everyone!
  2. Hi all, Does anyone know of decent/general scholarship opportunities?
  3. Thanks! Break a leg with Ohio! Were you also given the Monday deadline to get back to CMU about acceptance?
  4. Thanks for your response, EccentricDreamer. (And thanks everyone else too, for your kind responses!) I really appreciate it. Are you basing this info. for NYU DW dept. based off research or word of mouth? Just trying to get a better grasp. It's sinking in, finally, that I was accepted into Carnegie Mellon (have you all seen the short film about the history of 13p? Rob Handel, the head of CMU's program is featured -- and it might take your minds off the waiting!) I wish the same for all of you -- to get into your top schools. It makes sense that this is a breaking point for people, since we are nearing the end of March. It's not easy. And I agree that the decision factors for the top tier of applicants can be totally arbitrary. Personally, I wish NYU would make up their minds but I feel in my bones I'm going with CMU regardless. In reference to those not accepted into their top programs: I'm not in a position (mentally or otherwise) to keep kicking the can down the road. I'd rather dive in the ocean now and hope I remember how to swim…. For the most part, the programs mentioned on this thread are fantastic. The Rob Handel video: http://vimeo.com/50433749
  5. For those of you waiting to hear back from NYU -- the admissions office told me today that they still have not received decisions from the DW department. They are hoping to hear today or tomorrow. And then decisions will "hopefully" be out next Monday.
  6. Congrats to everyone for their acceptances so far. And sorry to hear about any rejections. I'm in that awkward spot of being accepted to Carnegie Mellon (love the program) and waiting to hear back from NYU. Part of me just wants to move forward with CMU and get on with the planning of things. They offered me a great scholarship and I love Pittsburgh. But I do want to know about NYU's decision…. Does anyone know about NYU's funding? Also, does anyone have suggestions for general scholarship/funding opportunities that MFA students can apply for? I hope everything goes beautifully for you ALL!!
  7. Also just received my formal acceptance letter to CMU. Just wanted to quickly update everyone… Again, best of luck to everyone. Off to the Southeastern Theatre Conference today. And I would love to see a performance of Isaac's Eye -- heard a great interview with the playwright on NPR recently.
  8. Hi everyone -- I'm in the same nauseating boat as so many of you are in… just waiting. I felt kinda hypocritical reading posts by others and not contributing/engaging. I applied to CMU (Carnegie Mellon University), NYU, NU, and CalArts. I've been interviewed by CMU, NU, and CalArts. Also, I received that e-mail from NYU that so many others got -- about how the applications have been submitted to the selection committee and now we just… ... ... wait... …. I felt solid about my interviews and applications, so who knows! I'll make updates as I find out more information. I hope you ALL get accepted!
