  1. Hi I am finishing up my undergrad this June with a double major in Sociology and Criminal Justice. I am currently holding a 2.9 cumulative GPA. I am set on becoming a Social Worker which propelled my plans into getting an MSW. I am looking at Rutgers University and Boston College but somehow my heart is set on Rutgers so my question is with my GPA what are my chances of getting in? Despite graduating in June, I am taking a year off to take a job offer as a counselor with Seneca, a non-profit agency. As of right now, I have been holding a position as an Academic Mentor for another non-profit agency for the past six years, my experiences with students/children goes back to 2007. If it isn't obvious by now, I want to work with children, youths, families, etc. That would make Fall of 2014 as my starting point for beginning a MSW. The fact that I won't be starting anytime soon is nerve wrecking because I am left wondering if there is anything else that I could have done differently. But I know that I need a break after completing my undergrad and that working as a counselor would be a valuable experience, even if it is just for one year. Any thoughts and comments would be greatly appreciative. Also, any other programs that you would recommend for someone with GPA like mine?
