  1. http://www.f1study.com/html/top_anthropology.html (don't know which year it was and what were the criterion though), just FYI. Best of luck!
  2. If you hadn't heard from NYU till last week, then the odds are you're 90% out. They've sent out interview invites and contacted those waitlisted applicants.
  3. Received my third rejection from Yale today. Well.....I have an inkling that all my apps will crumble this year......
  4. Seems that anthropology is among the subjects which send out notifications fairly late. March is coming, so hope the offer rain will come as well! I think March 15th is the cut-off date for most unis to make decisions, is it?
  5. Has anybody received an email from Berkeley? I know offers have been made and some rejection emails have been sent, but at least I deserve a notification.
  6. Blueskies, did Cornell notify you via email or a normal mail? I haven't heard back from them ever since.
  7. Yes, just email them or give the departmental secretary a call to check your status. I got to know mine two days ago by emailing NYU's program director, and he emailed backed very quickly, saying that I was not accepted though rejections had not been sent out. Sometimes we need to be a bit aggressive to badger them--am I in, am I in, am I in?????
  8. Started to panic as I only applied to 5 unis. I'm not that optimisitic as I know the rest four are equally or even more competitive......
  9. To update my experience here: Emailed the program director of NYU Anth today, and he replied with " I do regret to inform you...." Well, as expected, there are 450 applicants this year and only 7 offers will be made. They haven't sent out any rejections yet, but they do have had a short list which nominates 15 people for 7 openings.
  10. They have set up phone interviews with the semi-finalists. Someone has posted it on the results section today. I didn't get the email, so I assume that I was kicked out.Alas........
  11. Seems that one applicant has reported rejection today (via contact with professor). I wrote to ask about the decision making time frame, and their answer is : "** When will I learn the admissions decision? The Graduate School forwards your application to the department for consideration. The Graduate School does not provide the status of applications online, nor does it provide admissions decisions online, by email or by telephone. Applicants will be notified of all admission decisions by mail. The mailing of decisions varies by department. Most doctoral programs make their decisions in February and March. They arrange to have decisions mailed by mid- to late March. Master's and non-degree programs make their decisions at different times, beginning in late February. Graduate Enrollment Services" Hopefully the letter is on the way, though I don't konw whether it is rej or offer. :?
  12. Has anybody else (other than heythereman) heard from UC Berkeley and Cornell so far? :x Seems that they've only notified one or two applicant(s)?
  13. BTW, the Berkeley online app system seems pretty sucky. My recommenders reported having trouble uploading their letters, and I had to get one of my profs to fax hers over. Fingers crossed for everyone here. I think the real crunch time is like this week on to early-mid March. You can say that again. The online system is not very user-friendly , especially you've to copy and paste something from a txt doc rather than uploading a word or pdf doc. The online recommendation system was under maintenance some time in November, so I had to sent in all paper recommendations. I never succeeded in reaching the department contact person by phone. :x Oh well, as I know they'll notify applicants first via email then by letter, so hopefully we can all hear from them shortly!
