I was worried about this as well as I accepted my offer at my top choice program as soon as I got admitted, but I got a merit fellowship two days later and a fellowship from one of the institutes at the school a couple of weeks later.

I am "that guy" and I have no shame about it. I'm excited!

Elliott also had over 2000 applicants this year. It seems odd that they would supposedly have over twice the number of applicants two years later.

I don't think the law school advice was completely serious...it was moreso to make a point that at that level of debt and risk, you might as well be getting a (potentially more lucrative) law degree, even in this employment climate. I'm pretty sure law school was not cptdelorean's serious prescription for this particular case. I don't think anyone is actually advocating going into an unrelated field.

I got rejected for all of my PhD applications right out of undergrad. It turned out to be for the best, since I went into a depression/crisis my last semester over being unsure if I really wanted to study IR. I graduated from college fairly young, and minds can change and doubt themselves rather easily! I had barely taken any science classes despite loving it my whole life, so I took a year to take some extra undergrad classes in it and I looked into master's programs to combine my interests. I just got into GWU's International Science & Technology Policy MA and I'm hoping to build up more research experience there and refine my interests before trying to go for the PhD again. It's not the end of the world and I think a master's is a very good idea to strengthen your credentials!

I got $10k per year. I was already going to go to GWU anyway but this makes the deal that much sweeter! Congrats to everyone else.

They said yesterday on their Facebook page that they hope to get that info out in the next few days, and looking at previous years in the results search, it looks like funding info went out around 3 or so days after admission decisions were released.

In at GWU's International Science & Technology Policy program and this is a very easy decision for me. There's nothing quite like the Space Policy Institute anywhere else, which is perfect for my interests. Now it's just a waiting game to see if there's any funding available.
