  1. Thanks Aggie.. I hope that's for PhD only, because I plan to do some serious schmoozing for masters if I get rejected from all my phd schools
  2. Looks like Stanford starting responding to ppl.... (re: results section) Not me though.
  3. congrats lalala ! i can hear you sigh
  4. I might find some peace trying to reinvigorate this old threat  Is there anyone out there who HAS NOT been invited to an interview but still got accepted from a top tier program ??? If so, did you hear back in March ? April ? Late April ?
  5. Is there anyone else who feels like no matter how much you try telling yourself "it's gonna be OK.. it's not the end of the world if I don't get in" you just cannot chill ? I am literally developping an ulcer (fist signs in December, the pain and the acid reflux has gotten worse in the past few weeks), random rashes.. aaaaand the winner was waking up in tears last night (yup, I was crying in my sleep darn it!) - which is the first time this has happened to me  . Work is supposed to get busy in the next few weeks so I will hopefully do better at keeping my mind off of this, but I think the whole process is gonna leave a permanent scar on my body and soul. I was lucky enough to get an early acceptance for undergrad so I was never in this position before... I really hope no news is good news... thanks for lending me your ear (eyes?). cheers.
  6. Does anyone check Embark's application website for admissions results ? My understanding was that Embark only did the application and that results, when announced, would appear elsewhere.. or do they appear on Embark as well under some well-hidden link (which contrasts the huge font showing my application is received + the incredibly high app fee is paid) ???
  7. Hi Aggie, I got some overlap with your school list, and it has been all too silent for me too... Silence as in weird silence. Too silent. Anyway, I will defn share my status on NYU, Columbia, Harvard and Stanford once I hear from them. In case I decide to hate my life as a result of what I hear, there might be a slight delay so be warned
  8. Hello veterans ! Any words of wisdom on which schools do / don't do interviews ? Insights on Stanford, NYU, Columbia, Harvard and Princeton will be especially appreciated.
  9. I wanted to make this public for good karma: I swear I won't whine about my rejections if I get at least one (and only one) acceptance. BUT I have a feeling I made it to round #2 in all my schools but will get rejected from each.... we'll see. [tears another calendar page]
  10. I somehow picture sneering admissions officers giving each other high fives for coming up with this great idea
  11. I can attest to this fact for MIT - a friend of mine heard the good news via a one page-letter / small envelope. The lesson: don't toss anything to trash before reading it.
  12. To anyone out there who is working for an admissions committee, Yes, you are flooded with tons of applications and the chances of getting in are <10% everywhere, we cannot call you on the phone, blah blah... but can you at least try harder to stop wasting people's time ? I mean you've had your interview weekends already, so how hard is it to answer with a clear yes/no for those who weren't even invited to that ? and why do west coast schools don't like east coast folks that much !?!?!? [aaaah, this is better than using my using my anger towards anything useful / creative ]
  13. E-mail from Berkeley. I wish there were a bit more direct about saying no. "In early December of 2007, we sent an email message to you stating we would reply to the message(s) you sent to but it may take up to six weeks. Unfortunately, due to a recent change in our admissions process, we were unable to thoroughly check each application file for completeness and reply by then. Please note, however, that the admissions committees reviewed both complete and incomplete applications, and already have invited candidates to visit the Department. We expect the committees to make final decisions in late February or early March (between February 25th and March 7th). Official letters will be sent through the United States Postal Service within two weeks after the final decisions have been made. The Department of Psychology would like to thank you for your application to our department. We wish you the best of luck and appreciate your patience and understanding.: " 6 more to go... Not started off on the right foot though
  14. I can confirm that Harvard hasn't responded.. UCSD and Berkeley both have invitation-only open houses (UCSD last weekend, Berkeley in ~2 weeks) for which I haven't heard anything, so I'm assuming that's bad news for me (should I listen to my waaaay-too-quiet-inner-optimist and think "maybe they don't invite over international candidates with a US college degree / reside in the US ?) As I placed some significant weight on location as well  , the remaining schools on my list include Stanford, NYU and Columbia. I would be happy to hear back from anyone who knows what's going on there... Finally, I am not aware of any websites for the schools mentioned above to check admission status (the few they have were only for application package completeness).. I am not utterly misguided here, am I ? :?: [sigh] I really regret not having a back-up plan at the moment. It would be good to know for sure that I am quitting my job in 3 months. cheers & good luck,
