SERIOUSLY! I thought since we didn't even have to give the Germans our translated essays/ application that we would be notified earlier than usual. Wishful thinking I guess! This waiting is definitely increasing my daily wine intake...thank god for two three buck chuck!
If the school agrees, you can extend for another year. Although, if I've heard correctly, I believe certain support (such as airfare) is not covered for the second year.
The first one is a friend of a friend, but a few months ago when I googled Fulbright 'country name' eta blog, there were a ton of choices. Germany is also a really big program, so I'm sure there are more blogs than from other countries! Though I'm not sure if reading them helps stave off stress; reading the blogs makes me want a positive response even more!
Here are two blogs from Germany ETAs.... As you can tell, I too have been quite bored waiting!

You're definitely right (at least with Germany)! I've had a few friends do the ETA and it is actually in their contracts that they are not supposed to teach grammar. Sometimes the schools may ask the ETA to teach it, but they are not supposed to. Perhaps this is because most ETAs do not have formal training in teaching English...
And I second everyone! Come on Germany, this waiting game is getting really old!
Another loooong time lurker here! Also, another Germany ETA applicant. I figured I'd been reading all of your posts for a while (and thoroughly enjoying them I must add), so I might as well jump on in! Here's hoping someone gets answers today
