Thanks! I'd have to commit to U of Washington first if I don't hear back from either USC or NYU though, and I'm not so sure if it's really ok to back out after committing. Also, I don't even know if it would be my turn to get the spot once your friend declines it since, accordingly to those resulted submitted, I'm not the only being waitlisted...

Wondering if anyone here is going to decline USC or NYU's offer. I'm waitlisted by both. I have been admitted by U of Washington (Comp Lit, Cinema & Media Studies) & SUNY-Stony Brook (Cultural Studies). Really hoping to hear back from USC or NYU soon; otherwise, I'll be taking the UW's offer. Meanwhile, any thoughts on UW vs USC? BIG THANKS!!!

I applied to NYU's Cinema Studies, PhD program for Fall 2014; however, received an email informing me that I got accepted into their Mater's program instead. I've already hold a MA in Film Studies from another school. Not sure if I should accpet NYU's offer, go study for a semester and re-apply for PhD in the coming year. Would it be helpful if I apply for PhD as a MA student in their program? Thanks!

Just found this lovely threads. Congrats on your acceptance to Yale, that was my dream! I got rejected by most of the programs I applied, and there has been no move at all for U of Iowa (Film Studies) and USC (Critical Studies). Under the "Admission Decision" on that isis webpage of u of iowa, it still shows as "in progress"... Is that where you found out your result? And for USC, do they send out emails or postal letters? I'm becoming very worried and panic... Since I really felt like I'll have to come back for the application again next year, are you familiar with any schools that has the emphasis on (East) Asian cinema and cultural studies? I've tried USC, U of Chicago, Yale, Stony Brook U, NYU and some others that aren't really a good fit, but I'm afraid that I missed some... And did you just ask for your advisor to help you with your sop in addition to the writing sample? Thank you!!
