  1. Rejection received.
  2. Nope... Though I imagine they've at least contacted the finalists by now, so I assume our chances our slim at this point...
  3. I'm impatient, so I emailed juilliard to see if there was any update on their timeline (and since they had previously mentioned June 15 as a notification date). Got the same response as they sent out a month ago... "Thanks for checking in. Although some semi-finalists and finalists have been determined, the process is not yet complete. Final determinations have been delayed due to Christopher Durang’s play being nominated for—and winning!—a Tony Award. We do not yet have a date when final decisions will be made but we will update you as soon as we have any new information to report." I dint understand why they have not yet determined the finalists, since my understanding was that Chris Durang only gets involved after the finalists have been picked..I guess we'll just have to wait...
  4. Anybody hear anything from juilliard lately?
  5. Yep - got that Juilliard email. Though I wonder, since the last email had said final decisions will be made be June 15th, this email means final decisions will be what? July 1st? Sure is a slow process...
  6. If anyone ends up going to the juilliard playwrights evening thing, I'd love to hear what it's like. I can't make it...
  7. Even if you don't get an interview - don't despair, apparently they don't always interview people they end up accepting. The process is a bit random, or at least appears so from the outside.
  8. Yep - I had a letter request and phone interview back in march. Apparently they work in batches of reading 100 plays at a time, and picking a few to request letters from, so your play was likely in the last batch. The timeline is a little confusing. The email from the admissions people said they would pick the semi-finalists by may 15, but on the phone it sounded like they would have the finalists by may 15, and then give Chris and Marsha a month to read/pick them. Or it could be that everyone who gets a letter request is a semi-finalist. In the past it sounds like they've generally had 20-25 semi finalists, and then of those, 10-12 are finalists. There are 4 spots. Though all those numbers vary from year to year.
  9. I think there's currently a Canadian in the program. Anyone else here anything from them recently?
  10. Erik Ehn's runs Brown's program now. He's a mad genius/guru/saint and a brilliant teacher. Marcus Gardley also teaches there and he's also a wonderful person and a great teacher (and a fabulous writer to boot).
  11. Teethwax - fwiw Tom Bradshaw is a friend and I think he'd be a wonderful teacher. Don't know Zayd as well, but I like his work. I'm sure it would be a good experience and Chicago is a great place to be.
  12. Hi All, Just had my phone interview with Tanya from Juilliard, who as mentioned before, is extremely nice. It was mostly informational, probably more her telling me about the program than her asking questions about me. For those still waiting to her -don't give up hope. She said there were almost 100 plays that hadn't been read at all yet (they had the most submissions ever this year). She also said that finalists wouldn't be chosen until May and offers probably not make till June, so it's quite a wait for us...
  13. Congrats on Carnegie Mellon, remains. Rob is great - I'm sure you'll have a wonderful experience there.
  14. Thanks Failsafe - that's good to hear. I'd prepared lots to say about myself and my work, but hand't planned a lot of questions.
  15. Also - meant to ask: I think someone on hear said they'd had a juilliard interview last year. What was that like? What kind of questions did she ask? Thanks much!
