  1. My status page also did not change... probably just busy. I am going to ask my boss if I can get off on the 9th... or call in sick... who knows. We all need to get together regardless as the ones who stressed the most! Anyone else going to be taking evening classes? It is sooo hard to take TSU seriously now!!! Seriously, this is great. Congrats to everyone and good luck to anyone waiting...
  2. True, Sosh. I don't know if you guys pray, but I do.. so I will keep you in my prayers... maybe someone is a different religion than me and can pray to their God so we have our bases covered?
  3. After looking at all of your great applications, I am somewhat less confident, lol... Well, here is to hoping they liked my essay! Seriously though, if not, I wish rejections would come faster.
  4. No, I applied to UT Polisci when I first came home from Iraq, which is much harder to get into and did not get in.. we moved to Austin and I started at TSU and found out about LBJ... my wife teaches near Austin and I work in Austin, so we are staying here for now... but I sure hope I get in... kind of my last attempt I guess.
  5. Can I go ahead and say you suck? LOL.. Man, here is to hoping! And here is to telling kids not to mess up their freshman year! I would not be so nervous otherwise.
  6. Anything I would say is a guess. But an educated one. It seems they are on a rolling basis, but put the borderline ones to the end... kinda of a quasi waiting list. It is killing me as well. I only applied to LBJ (I am attending the TSU program right now), so it is a big deal to me... We will all know within a month.
  7. I sent an email to the admin person since I have had several conversations with her and she said not getting anything yet just means that she has not sent anything yet. She will send in short bursts from now until mid-March.
  8. Also, did your status page change on the UT IED thing?
  9. Congrats! Nothing on me either. I sent an email because my new email is not working though.. ugh. Man, I am happy for you, but feeling a little sick since I did not hear anything and I submitted my ap in September... I kinda had my doubts. Good job! Are you still considering Bush?
  10. GPA: 2.7 (baddd first year and then I went back), Without 1st year, 3.6, upper level 3.8 UT Arlington GRE: V: 540 Q: 600 AW 6.0 Experience: Military Journalist in Iraq, Director of the press conferences from Baghdad, Senior Editor, AFN Iraq, President of the largest student created group at UTA, Chosen by college to meet PM Bhutto before her death. Recommendations came from 3 professors, 1 from a Harvard PHd, 1 Columbia, 1 Indiana U. I think my essay was outstanding.. but I could be bias.
  11. He was rejected 3 or so years ago. Got his MPA from TSU San Marcos and got a great job in Canada, so it was not the end of the world for him. He basically told me he though you would need an 1100 to have a realistic shot...
  12. Do you think it helps? Especially when you have to write an essay about why you want to go there and you mention what you experienced? Just say yes, and make me feel better.
  13. When I was on my visitation day, one of the administrative people talked about having a wait list for the first time since the amount of people that get accepted is not the amount that enrolls and they have started receiving more funding, meaning they can have more students... Seemed positive... they were not sure if they were going to do it at that time. I spoke to my friend last week who spoke to a student member of the admissions committee, and they mentioned the wait list, and said first round letters would be out within two weeks (from last week), so I figured they went ahead with it, possibly in a different fashion then was discussed, since that was just a plan at the time. I now wish I had asked EVEN MORE questions than I did. Like, what does an application look like that does not get in. I know a guy who did not get in with a 900 GRE, so I am guessing there are more of those than we know... hoping.
  14. Yeah, with this being the first year with a wait list at LBJ, I am wondering how that will work and when those notices would be sent too. I know like 250 people get accepted and 150 of those enroll, so that leaves 100 spots.. if 400 apply, that has to mean the wait list will provide a good shot... I keep thinking every time I am away from a computer for long, it might be there next time I look...
  15. It might be delaying it... I am just hoping we find out by weeks end. At this point, if it is bad news, I wish I would know too.. I am doing grad classes at TSU and need to know which way to go...
  16. I think going for the MGPS was a good move.. new program with less applicants. If you don't have any abnormally bad stats or lack of letters or something you should be good to go.
  17. Also I recieved 0 credits for my first year.. all Fs.. if not for that year id have around a 3.7 overall...
  18. Yeah, I failed every class my first year and joined the Army. Went back and never did bad again... Have a 2.7 overall but a 3.8 upper level. I was in Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society and chosen to represent my school to meet Benazir Bhutto last year... I have one semester of Grad School at Texas State while I am waiting on U Texas (I got back too late to apply from Iraq) and a 4.0. Gre is 540 (ave at UT is 570) and 600 (average is 650) 6.0 writing (average is 4.3).. so I am in the range there... I think my essay is good.. I just re-read it. I have three letters from professors, one is a Harvard PHd and he wrote a great letter. We also had to submit a resume, and I think my experience in Iraq will help.... They said they like people who do stuff for fun and that kinda thing and I was President of Mavericks for Football Now, a club to get football back at UT Arlington and played on our semi-pro team we fielded.. was in charge of efforts that raised $20,000 for us to play in a semester and we volunteered at a horse ranch for handicapped kids... Just hoping experience helps.. It is coming down to that wire where I am just checking and checking and checking...
  19. Is that 3.03 overall or upper level? Because of my first year, I have a terrible overall, but My upper level is a 3.8. I think they focus more on upper level.
  20. Hey, Sosh, which visitation day did you go to? There were only like 3 or 4 people when I went there. One guy who goes to Texas and a girl came who seemed to want to go because she had been a sorority president, and then later a girl showed up who had no idea why she was there and had been a bartender for her 5 or 6 years out of school. I thought the guy who went to Texas currently seemed the brightest. I am hoping that is a good representation of my competition. But I was just looking on Yuster and seeing the people who got in had around 1400 GREs! Ah! My 1140 overall scares me, but they did say a 6.0 writing helps. With 1220 or so being the average though, there must be some low. Did anyone on here apply to the new Global Policy degree? It seemed appealing, but I just did the MPAFF with International Affairs. I also made the mistake of telling people I was applying... now they are asking me every 5 minutes, so it makes it worse...
  21. I also had to change my email due to getting a new job in health policy, so I sent an email saying so and the administrator sent me back an email saying she would update me in her database but that I had to change it in UT Direct because only I have access to that now.. trying to read the tea leaves, lol! It could go either way, I just wish I knew which database!!! The reject or the accept! I also wish I had this job when I applied.. it looks good. Is it normal to check your email like 90 times in a day? I do know last week my friend told me the person on the admissions committee said the first letters would go out in the next week or two...
  22. This was after around 4 beers.. I did not write my essay like this...lol.
  23. As far as rolling, it seems to be semi-rolling based on what they told me. They told me that they review a certain amount per week, and decide at weekly meetings, so if all the spots get taken up, they will wait list you, which is new to LBJ... But that is good given the amount of people accepted who do not end up enrolling. I would think a wait list is a good chance with around 100 students not accepting. I am feeling like tomorrow will be the day... no idea why. I wish I could see the applications of people who did and did not get in! It does seem that they are really big on the essay... they said they let someone in conditionally with a 900 GRE or something in that range before.... So with mine being below the average, but still within the range, and having the good writing score.. I feel okay. I also think they look at upper level GPA much more than overall.. My buddy who goes there keeps telling me it will be fine, but he went to MIT for undergrad and I went to UT Arlington... so I am still on edge.. I think one thing is for sure, if your application was in early, and probably any time, they probably have decided.
