  1. CrystalDee, I totally echo Mumstheword here, I came on specifically today to see if you got it! Crazy, I know, but I also think dealing with this uncertainty and pushing yourself to apply to begin with, while trying to maintain your role as a competent mom is rough, and not for the faint of heart. I'm keeping my fingers crossed for both of you, I personally know someone who went from alternate to getting it, so from my perspective it seems quite likely.
  2. Anyone care to share how long they waited between receiving the email and receiving the snail mail? Also, per our much earlier discussion, my "you got it" email came from IIE, not FFSB.
  3. Going to Denmark! I can't believe I just wrote that! Congrats LisaFrankXoxo, and I'm sorry to hear that, Danielm43.
  4. Congrats! I love hearing stories of people moving from alternate to accepted!
  5. I completely agree that it's been very hard to focus on anything at all. I have a full time job that requires long stretches of intense research, and I've found myself alt-tabbing to my Gmail during research stints about 500 times an hour. It's insane and totally not helpful for my productivity. Someone a few pages back said he/she only allowed him/herself to check email once a day? I so admire that discipline! No specific ideas on the holdup for Denmark or any of the other Scandinavian countries. I am assuming that the individual country decisions were long ago sent to FFSB, and that they now have to go through each decision, double check official transcripts, do some other due diligence, etc., before they can send final notifications.
  6. Oy, that is stressful! Mine are much younger, so I just would need to navigate the preschool situation, but still, it adds a whole other element to the waiting game. That would indeed be a wonderful experience for your youngest, how cool. I really hope it works out for you!
  7. I am with you. I get these occasional emails about events run by my local Danish club (many Scandinavians here in Seattle) and I received one today with "Announcing our Danish...." something and my heart completely stopped before I realized, no, it's not anything Fulbright related. Just spent the last half hour looking at Flickr pics of my would-be host town and imagining myself there, on its streets. Probably not a very good exercise when the possibility of rejection is still quite high. CrystalDee, would you bring your kids with you? If so, I'd be in that boat too.
  8. Also just saw this (http://www.creatememe.com/memes/46584/checks-email-still-no-message-from-fulbright/?utm_campaign=auto_social&utm_source=twitter&utm_medium=%401st_w0rld_pr0bz ) via Twitter. Maybe removing my "fulbright" column from TweetDeck would improve my productivity today, no?
  9. Thanks rsbh! I figured that was probably the rough timeline (end of April) after hearing the Switzerland update. Guess I'll try checking the Google doc a little less frequently for now... In other news, Twitter tells me Ireland found out today: https://twitter.com/bvsouders/status/321677143987863552
  10. I know someone who found out she was an alternate last year during the last week of March and then found out she was accepted in early May...so maybe some of you alternates will get full acceptances before some of us even hear a peep. I think right now my biggest fear is receiving an alternate status and remaining in limbo for the whole summer (which apparently is possible). Yikes.
  11. It's so quiet on here...must mean something's about to happen, right? Refresh, refresh, refresh...
  12. Is it just me, or does the Google doc suddenly resemble what it looked like several weeks ago? Did someone accidently revert to an older version? Or did we time travel backwards and now the wait is even longer?
  13. It's Good Friday, but it's not a federal holiday
  14. Oh goodness, me too. Any. Day. Now! I saw somewhere that they only recommend up to 1.5 - 2 people or so per available spot for full grants, so I figure there are maybe 8, 9, or 10 of us in the whole country sitting here, waiting for the Denmark decisions. I think at least 3 of us are on this forum now...have y'all added your info to the Google doc? https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0AmoTe-gJd4B9dFJ0aW1mYTVkYnhKcUEzR28yRTNwdlE&pli=1#gid=1 My money's on Friday.
