  1. Ah well, didn't make it this year. It's okay; it was a long shot but worth a try (currently 22, applied straight out of uni). My question is, would it be bad form to respond to their rejection letter with a request about how I can improve my application for next year? If so, how does one respond to a rejection letter?
  2. I'm applying this year and I have a business degree. )
  3. I am. I don't even have a BFA but I figured I'd give it a shot. I've really built up my commercial portfolio the past 4 years, have rec letters from professors, and I've worked in studios and ad agencies. Hopefully that's good enough (applying for illustration). Are you applying straight from your undergrad?
  4. Wow. My country's very Catholic so there's no work for a week (Holy Week and onward), including postal deliveries. I also emailed my school but no response yet. Whoohoo. )
  5. Okay, thank you! I'm not sure how it works in the States but in my country/culture it is somewhat frowned upon to not waive the right to view the LOR because it means you don't trust your recommenders, thus your letter is less credible.
  6. In a bout of waiting anxiety, I went over my online application and I realized that I accidentally did NOT waive my right to view my recommendation letters! Stupid, stupid, stupid. At this point, I'm hoping they will think it is a trip up over the English language (based in Asia). How screwed am I?
  7. Thank you for the advice! Mail in this country is notoriously late. Okay, I'll buy a e-card for long distance calls tomorrow if I haven't heard anything by then.
  8. Have you guys been receiving snail mail through a service like Fedex or through the national post? My country's post service is a disaster and one of my nightmares is that the letter has been waiting in some provincial office and will arrive at my doorstep in September. )
  9. I don't regret applying but I feel so worried that I haven't heard from my school yet. I applied for an MFA at SVA (yes, just one school...!) and I haven't gotten any emails or letters yet. It won't be the end of the world if I don't get in because I'm 22 but it would be great for my career path if I get in. I didn't study art in college but I've been pretty active in the community and my job right now is at a design studio.
  10. I consulted with others though and they advised to wait one more week. I think i might call if I don't hear anything by Wednesday. Thanks! I applied to that program as well. Fingers crossed!
  11. Please post your program and decision. I live in Asia and I've yet to hear from them.
  12. This "omen" is not as concrete as everyone else's but I'll share it anyway. I had a dream that my school sent me a rejection letter and one of the stated reasons for my rejection was that I swore on Facebook and liked a certain politician's page. What! My real life anxieties are creeping into my subconscious. Congrats to everyone who's received positive decisions already. Still waiting for mine!
  13. Has anyone outside of America heard from SVA? I've been waiting for my letter and it hasn't arrived yet. But I live in a third world country and our national Post cannot be relied upon AT ALL. I hope they sent the letter through Fed Ex.
