I had several professors from tyler and was not impressed with their abilities at teaching or producing art, one couldn't even win a local competition-which she forced us to vote in--for her-- during class!!-and this was in a small town in Texas mind you. Half the professors in the department went to Tyler and just didn't impress and from what I saw while I was in New York there wasn't much of a presence of alumni or artists there either. MICA seems to be stronger in certain discplines than others but gets attention as a whole a lot better than say a tyler..at least thats my impression.

Is it me or is there a gowing energy at MICA and Baltimore? It seems every forum I'm in people are taking about it or Baltimore's growing art scene. I know people who have gone and they very much liked it and I hardly see MICA alumni teaching at mediocre schools. On the other hand -half of my old schools faculty was from TYLER and I WAS NOT impressed by them-Considering we are talking about UTEP,here, as far off from the northeast art scene as you can get. Honestly, isn't where you winding up teaching -a major consideration when deciding on an MFA program, or should it be? I think most people look to teach while they try/or succeed at becoming a working artist. Then deciding which to ultimetly focus on! right?

Anyone heard from MICA Mt.Royal. I'm on the wait-list and have another school throwing money at me. I'm hoping they inform me by next week- when the other school wants a response. Funny the other school offer me more stipend money when I mentioned being on MICA's wait-list...

I was wondering if you ever attended the program-i was thinking of going.

I have been accepted to two MICA programs covering between 50-75 percent of tuition. On the other, hand I have been offered a free ride plus about 2,000 dollars-in my pocket-a month by the UTKnoxville. They both seem really excited to have me and both have given me more money. Both have their pros and cons and I'm not sure the money should be the biggest factor i should consider. I'm thinking MICA looks better on a resume but the UTK would make me a better all-around artist. Not sure what I should do at this point? I have also been accepted into: R.I.T(partial funding) & UTD (Full funding)
