Hi there, I am also probably going to Cornell for Fall 2014. I have some concerns since I will be accompanied with my wife. The stipend is stated as 33,530$ per year. Do you know how much of it is reduced due to taxes considering I am an international student? For a modest living of two people do you think 33,530$ minus the tax is sufficient? Thnx in advance.

She didn't state as acceptances or rejections. However, she replied to my question that whether the decisions have been finalized or not.

I just called them and a lady said that the majority of applicants will receive the notifications next week.

I am a bit confused about the Tax issues in US. What percents of the stipends are reduced due to taxes?

I don't like to sound as a pessimist but I've heard that MIT usually calls the successful applicants and they are preparing these messages for massive rejections.

UCSF has said that it will notify the successful applicants for interview dates till January 15th. No words yet though, I think I'm rejected

I have just been accepted to the JHU chemistry program. Unfortunately, I am being bombarded by talks of dangers in baltimore and everybody is trying to talk me out of it but JHU is my favorite graduate school. Can somebody here please clarify about the issues of living there? Another questions is that if I move in with my wife, who is not a student, can she also use the JHU shuttle and the escort security of JHU? Thnx in advance

Hi there, I am an Iranian Chemistry student at SUT, the top university in Iran. I have 18.80 ot of 20 GPA, my toefi iBT is 105 and I've got 93% in GRE Chemistry. I am going to take GRE general on October. I have 13 months of research experience with one publication in submission stage. I have also been TA for the previous semester. I am wondering about my chances to be accepted at top ranked universities like MIT, Princeton, Harvard and etc. What is it about my resume that is lacking? Thanks in advance
