Still no word from Austria...this is so frustrating! I just feel sure this week is going to be "the" week. Do you guys ever try to imagine what your state of mind will be like a week from now, right this second? If I had a crystal ball, I could take one look at my face next Tuesday and know immediately what happened.

Any word on the Austria USTA? Just knowing they've already released some decisions is killing me.

Thanks, lkj2007 - that sheds a lot more light on the situation. I ended up assuming the USTA couldn't be as competitive as the Fulbright ETA because of the logistics of paper applications (also, I'd never heard of it until I read through last year's fulbright forum). Then I only made more assumptions based on the notification dates of a handful of USTA applicants posting on the grad cafe last year. Oh my gosh. I feel so neurotic! This forum...it does things to your brain. (and the waiting game doesn't help). Anyway, that's good to hear. Thanks for the information!

Hmmm. I'm really concerned we didn't hear anything yesterday. Last year, rejected/alternate applicants heard back from the program about a week after accepted applicants (I read the entire Fulbright '12-13 thread over the summer during a couple boring days at work...). So if someone heard about an acceptance yesterday, I feel like that doesn't bode well for the rest of us. That said, there's not a lot of precedent to go by with the USTA. This is the first year they even had an online application, so who knows how they do things there? I'm relieved you guys couldn't see your uploads either. That was really gnawing at me!

I know I'm being completely paranoid, but have you ever gone back to your USTA application to look through it again? If you log in, it just says "print application" and pulls it up as a .pdf, but then it looks incomplete. I don't see my essay or transcript or any of my uploads--not like you do with Fulbright. It makes me worry something happened and my full application wasn't submitted! I wish I could quit worrying about it... Anyway, I'm also worried a rejection from the USTA portends rejection from the Fulbright ETA, since the USTA is supposed to be less competitive. I thought I was just hedging my bets...but now I'm bracing myself for the worst: double rejection.

Anyone else apply to the USTA in Austria? I wasn't expecting to hear anything until April, but it looks like people heard back on Good Friday last year too.
