  1. Can someone provide the URL to check the Rutgers' application status? The one that I have (link) does not show status.
  2. Anyone wants to claim the latest UIC acceptance? Do share some details if you can... Thanks!
  3. Anyone wants to claim Western Ontario Phd rejection? Did you get an email to check the website? When I go to the website, it just says "Released to Program".
  4. My guess - Hopkins' one acceptance & the waitlist are from the same AOI. What say? Apart from this, was checking a year older stats abt UIC acceptances. One person had commented that they have an intake of 5. And not finding any waitlist postings for 2013, probably UIC doesnt have this year as well. Any comments?
  5. I dont want to create further confusion than what is already present; but there might still be the possibility of hearing good news from UIC. I had contacted the office today; not regarding the application status, but regarding clarification on some financial document submission (since I am not from US). During this conversation I got to know that the admission process is still going on and its only by March II week, things would be finalized. (Basically I asked whether I need to do this formality considering that I might after all be rejected as the department has already announced offers). So, similar to UVA, UIC and others might still be doing trickle down selection. Congrats & Goodluck.
  6. 'TGC' - Why we overlook such obvious things! And thanks! Will hunt for the relevant threads.
  7. Thanks for your response! [Does TGC stands for The Graduate Committee?] If that is the case, then I dont know much about this funding business. So, if I get admission only with TAship (without any fellowship), does it mean that I have do the TAship for all the five years? [i am aware that TAship is mandatory even for people with fellowship - but they might have to do it somewhere between their II and IV year.] Also, would sustaining with TAship be difficult without the extra monetary funding from fellowship? Since Indian graduate schools doesnt function this way, I not quite aware of this intricacy. It will be nice if any of you can let me know about this. Thanks!
  8. Hello all. Joining bit late... Just curious about the 3 UIC acceptances (over phone) who also have been nominated for fellowship. Is this trend normal - the first call is for people who have been nominated; and after that others (who ll have only TA with bit of funding) will be informed? And also wanted to know about this interview procedure: one person mentioning interview for Notre Dame HPS (and few others for Penn state). What is the nature of this interview - length and content/kind of questions?
  9. Nice one! Quite helpful! Thanks!
  10. Hello. I am planning to apply this year for philosophy graduate programmes in US. My area of interest is in philosophy of science and metaphysics and I want to pursue my phd in these fields. Regarding this, I have short listed few universities. The criteria I used are the following. I thought there should be more than one faculty in philosophy of science (especially physics; not much interested in phil of biology or cognitive science) backed with good number of people dealing with metaphysics. I also referred to philosophy-gourmet report to heirarchize my choices. I went through the usual routine of checking the department, what might be the strength of each university department's, etc. With this understanding, I came with the following list. University of Pittsburgh University of Michigan University of Notre Dame University of California, San diego University of Wisconsin-Madison University of Colarado, Boulder University of California, Irvine University of Sydney And it is here I require your help. Please advice on this list - pros and cons. I want to know if there are other good universities (both in US or outside) which are recommended for philosophy of science or HPS program. Thanks, Varun
