I am torn between these two programs. I was sure I was going to Colorado, until I visited FSU. I went there for my undergrad and loved it, but that was in 2004. The entire faculty has changed, so I would be working with all new people. If location were the only consideration, I'd head to Colorado in a second. Both programs are funded and both have been pursuing me. I want the one that is more rigorous academically. Unfortunately, when I visited CO, the class I observed (taught by the graduate director) was more of a performance class, and not one I would be likely to take. The department head assures me that the literature-based classes are about textual/historical analysis. Both programs seemed to have a very supportive faculty and student population. I loved Boulder and am so sick of Florida (just finished my master's at the University of South Florida), but I don't want to pick for geography. FSU requires three years of coursework, and Colorado requires two (plus about two dissertation years for both). I'd teach a wider variety of classes at FSU. It is 2:45 in the morning on April 11th, and I have to decide by the 15th. Any suggestions about questions to ask? Anyone familiar with either program? Suggestions about how to decide!?
