@MuscaTiger, I lived in Muscat for a full year and went to Sultan Qaboos Univeristy. I know you already have an affiliation, but I would be more than happy ro share my contacts with you. Oman cannot be matched. Would have applied, Fulbright regulations wouldn't let me. Let me know if you're interested in some contacts or just general advice! Did you call Jermaine? I called him the beginning of April and he said he was hopinf for the end of April...we're now in May....but orientation is June!

@MuscaTiger, are you applying to an Arab Gulf country? Perhaps Oman? I'm applying to Bahrain, but I'd thought I give you my solidarity.

Has anyone called Jermaine Jones regarding the Middle East/Gulf countries? I am dying here...

I hope no one will consider my question condescending, but... What are the benefits of being Fulbright in the "real world", aside from the prestige? Does anyone know when the Arab Gulf countries will make their decisions? Would appreciate input on both or one of the questions above! Hang in there everyone!!!

@Uthayankee Maybe I should stop being a negative nancy, but speculation on the this and previous forums seems to indicate that the budget email is indication of alternate or acceptance status.

If the date confirmation email is an automatic rejection, why would they bother sending it out anyway?

@vPersie Do you know how to find out which countries have Fulbright committees and which don't?

I'm really starting to think more and more that for those who only received the date clarification email that the "alternate theory" may be right. I doubt they would ask "everyone" for date clarifications. I also agree that Boren does not "lie", but is certainly careful in choosing language and how they phrase things. I find it odd that they can't be more straight forward simply because having different stages of elimination would be easier for them (oh and us to!).

This is just pure speculation (to be fair we're all speculating), but perhaps the people who only received the date confirmation email and not the budget email are alternates? I find it hard to imagine that they would send a date confirmation email to everyone! Anyone had a similar experience? Would welcome more speculation/thoughts! Hang in there everyone!
