oooh that's real weird that they gave you 3.6 on academic performance but yea everything about academia is super subjective. outside of scholarship apps, I know lab mates whose operating grants got ranked lowest with CIHR but ranked top with other funding agencies and papers rejected at lower impact journals but accepted in "top" journals. Vanier is also subjective too.

if it helps, on my original application i wrote i requested 2 years of funding but I see that in the "Offer of an Award" it says term of 3 years non renewable but i hope i dont take all 3 years to finsih.. does it only say 2 years for you? (Offer of an Award)

im already attending. this is actually my 3rd year of phd, i was a masters student first year and transferred to PhD why? ask your q anyways , i can always ask around to see if they know your answer

yup i know 2 people who had no first author pubs that got it and nope not from uwo but labangel, id be REALLY surprised if you did not get it this year

The number of awards is less this too year, so i don't think i have a chance last year i applied, i had 1 first author paper and 1 coauthor paper, i was ranked like 36%? this year i applied, i had 2 first author, and 2 coauthor paper, and 2 that were in press? this is my last chance applying too

they were late a week for the travel awards and i hope they dont pull that off again with the remaining doctoral awards as well......

i hate this wait, i spent a long time on this app and am feeling more and more pessimist as time goes on....... how do you guys cope with rejection? i think i have a very thin skin. I applied to the CIHR travel award and one wrote a lengthy review saying it was excellent but the other reviewer wrote 2 lines and said it was moderate.... hope that doesn't happen again
