  1. Awesome congrats! I did not want to do CalSWEC. I have my fieldwork appointment this Friday... I dunno when our 4 day fieldwork thing is at Fullerton, but I hope this give us all the information soon! I got my B.A. in psychology and was Gung Ho on going into clinical counseling so I wanted Community Mental Health, but I want to work with kids and since I got accepted because I applied to the Community Mental Health module and we all (both concentrations) take all the same classes the first year anyway I will switch over my second year if all goes well.
  2. They sent an email saying to expect something this month on the finalized cohort and more details on the 4 day readiness thing next month... I am going into Community Mental Health, but am hoping to change my concentration after my first year to Child Welfare. No my portal status has not changed either because it wont until the cohort is finalized... so whenever that is.
  3. Anyone going to CSUF, if so, what concentration?
  4. Well I currently attend CSUF, I am a psychology major graduating this semester and honestly only attended CSUF (as a transfer student) because my father got sick and so I really wanted to go somewhere else (I dunno why honestly)... I heard great things of CSULB (as a school) as I know people that go there for other grad studies so I applied because of the prestige of the program. After attending a carnival our school hosted this last week I talked to graduating MSW students and they too turned down CSULB because of the class size. CSUF class size is about 30 and CSUF does not accept as many students as CSULB does so that is my main selling point. If I am going into a specialized area in grad studies I want to be sure I am known by first name and get the attention I feel I deserve. I only applied to those two and CSUF is my choice now. Its up to you... People seem turned off by CSUF because of their ranking, but CSUF is newly accredited so I feel it is an advantage also because they have been newly reviewed so I feel that they are up to par as far as standards to the accreditation. Its up to you though... those are just my points because I too was going back and forth because I was so set on going to CSULB... haha!
  5. I turned in my application on the 14th (day before they were due).
  6. I just got an acceptance email to CSULB today, I did however change my mind and am accepting CSUF. Best of luck to the rest of you all!!!!
  7. So we (CSUF) Human Development Department hosted a Carnival of Change at CSUF and one of the booths was the MSW Association and I talked to the grad students there and they informed me that class sizes are small (30, compared to large USC classes) and that CSULB got back to them late into the summer so for those of you waiting (as I am in the same boat, that's an FYI that they take their sweet time)
  8. I applied to CSUF and CSULB and had my interview for CSUF Monday (15th of April) and got an email in less than 30 minutes of my interview that I was accepted. I was accepted into the Community Mental Health concentration and turned in my application the day before it was due. I have not heard anything from CSULB (which is my first choice) and turned in my application on February 13th and since CSUF requires an acceptance confirmation on the 24th (of next week) I am feeling discouraged... GRR!!!! I hate the waiting game!
