Oh I didn't know there was a "waiting list" category. When I got the "recommended but not funded" last year and it said "should additional funds become available within the next six months, you will be advised without delay" which I took to mean that I was on a waiting list. Like I said I didn't hear from them until I got my SSHRC for this year based on a new application.

I was in the "recommended not funded" last year and didn't hear anything after getting the first letter.
-
Well I finally got my letter! Thanks to everyone for keeping me sane! Congratulations and good luck to everyone!

Yeah that is weird... this is what the SSHRC website says: Doctoral Awards For students applying to, or registered in, a doctoral program or a combined MA/PhD program in the social sciences or humanities For applicants registered at a Canadian university, the university sets the deadline; for all others, November 13, 2008 Joseph-Armand Bombardier CGS Doctoral Scholarships: $35,000 per annum for 3 years SSHRC Doctoral Fellowships: $20,000 per annum for 12, 24, 36 or 48 months What did your letter say?
-
I thought that you can only receive $20,000 per year after the first two years but I don't know. What site are you talking about?
-
Oh and she actually gave you your score (over the phone)? I know how much I'm getting but no one has given me my score....... did you accept online (who did you email?) Congratulations again!
-
Congratulations! Did you get your letter?
-
I still haven't gotten my letter but I emailed on Monday asking them to re-send the letter and I got an email today saying that they would do so. Also, when I sent the email regarding a new letter I asked about accepting via email (I included my application number). The person when she responded also said "Thank you for confirming your acceptance of your award" so it might just be as easy as sending them your application number in order to confirm/
-
And just to make sure... when you accepted you used the number that was in the receipt of application email? Did you include any other info? and have you gotten your letter yet? when you asked them to remail who did you ask? thanks!
-
So Preeduh have you actually accepted your award now? Did you get a reply email from them or anything?
-
Thanks for checking! What is the internal use number?
-
according to SSHRC's website: Acceptance & Refusal of Award You must notify the Council within four weeks of the date on the Notice of Award of your decision to accept or refuse the award. To accept the award, send the Council an e-mail or fax (613-943-1329), specifying the start date of your award and, if you know it, the university and department of tenure. To refuse the award, send the Council an e-mail or fax (613-943-1329) specifying your reasons for refusal (e.g., employment, acceptance of another award). The Council will cancel any award not accepted by the above deadline. Notification by telephone is not acceptable. You must notify Council of your acceptance or refusal as specified above

hi When I spoke to graduate studies they said the only number they had was the one that matched my application number. They had all the other information (value of the award, duration, etc.) Do you still have you application number? could you possibly check to see if they are not the same? Thanks!
-
Hey is the award number the same as your application number? I mean is the same number as you get from SSHRC when they have received your application? That's the number Graduate Studies gave me. Thanks!
-
Well I contacted Graduate Students and they gave me the info. Thanks so much for the idea! I will wait the two weeks before requesting another letter be sent to me. Just to be sure... do you know what info I include in the email to SSHRC? I'm guessing it's: Name Award File Number Type of Award Award Tenure/Value. Sound right? Thanks!
-
So espressocup... Did you ask SSHRC to send you a new letter? I contacted them and they told me to wait at least two weeks for the letter... I figure there is still time since you have a month to accept the offer... how do you know the letter is lost? Thanks for all everyone's openness in discussing this! It really helps to know that there are other Toronto residents in the same boat!
-
"one more thing, I just got confirmation from SSHRC that I can begin processing my payments without my acceptance letter (since the one they sent to my Canadian address seems to be lost in the mail). This must be good news for some of you who are in similar situations so I thought I would share it. " I'm in Toronto and am still waiting for my letter... did SSHRC tell you how you would do this (begin processing without the letter)? Who do you contact and how does it work? Thanks!
-
I'm in Toronto and didn't get the letter today (as I said before I heard that I got the SSHRC back in mid May) so I don't think it's necessarily a distance from Ottawa thing.... can anyone who has their letters say anything about the postmark?
-
I'm getting the sense that a lot of people are just getting their actual letters now. I got the news about my Doctoral SSHRC back in mid May but still haven't received my letter from SSHRC. Is this typical?
