  1. Thank you I just want to ask one more question. If I have a reliable journal article, but only an aspect of it is relevant to my research, should I include a general description of the article or just focus on the relevant aspect?
  2. Thank you What about books (not journal articles) published by reputable publishers? Also, there are some articles published by peer-reviewed journals such as Routledge but they are not empirical (there aren't separate sections of methods, findings and discussion). Are those articles accepted? .
  3. Hi, I'm writing a B.A. research paper and confused about literature review. Is is obligatory that the sources be empirical research articles? What about academic essay or journal articles that are not empirical (there is no specific methodology and no discussion of findings, etc)? Does an article published by Ph.D. candidate affiliated with a reputable university count as reliable? Thank you
  4. Thank you, pears. it was very helpful. Also, thank you, NicholasCage.
  5. Hi, I'm writing my first research paper or undergraduate thesis using online ethnography. I've read several journal articles related to my major, cultural studies, and using ethnography or online ethnography. I wish you could clarify certain issues related to doing research in general. I mean whether my understanding is wrong or correct. 1. The first issue is related to data collection and analysis. So, the researcher collects data following certain methodologies and then analyzes the data gathered using certain procedures such as thematic analysis. In the final paper, those stages will not be described in details . For example, in the method section the author will briefly describe the method used and the way data was analyzed, in addition to certain information such as the setting, the participants, etc. And then in the results section he or she will discuss the findings and illustrate them. But how can the reader know that the author really did what he or she claims to have done in the paper? What if he or she is lying? And the findings came from his or her imagination? For example, some authors may claim they spent 6 months collecting data, which may not be the case. In other words, will my supervisor have access to my field-notes, and other types of data I gathered? I know some questions may sound trivial to you, but I'm a beginner after all. I appreciate your help.
  6. Thank you, archaeostudent1231. Your reply was informative, helpful and encouraging. It really changed my mood.
  7. I really appreciate your help. In fact, this is a B.A. research paper. This is my first time in writing a research paper. I am majoring in cultural studies. Yes I do have a supervisor but my university is different from yours .
  8. Thank you In I explained my topic and confusion about the theoretical framework to be used.
  9. Hi, I wonder whether the theoretical framework is obligatory or not. I mean should every research paper, especially M.A. Papers, have a theoretical framework? or does it depends on the nature of the thesis? If it depends, are research papers with a theoretical framework better than those without? Thank you
  10. Hi, I'm new to the field of research. I'm writing my M.A research paper on the impact of cyberspace on religion, focusing on a minority religion linked to my country, which makes my research somewhat genuine. So, I am using digital ethnography to study this online community. So, my research question is "what is the impact of cyberspace on 'the name of the minority religion'?". I'm confused with the theories I should use, and I cannot ask my supervisor because he gives just views. 1. Is "virtual community" a theory? Is it suitable for my research question? 2. What about "cyber-culture"? Is it a theory? 3. And "computer-mediated communication"? Please help. I am lost. Thanks
