  1. Penn recently launched a new M.S.Ed. program in Education Entrepreneurship. What are everyone's thoughts on this? Do you think this could be viable for someone looking for a career in higher ed (unsure whether in a non-profit, private sector, or in an institution).
  2. I have a list of schools I would be very happy to go to, but I am worried about shooting too high/funding for MA students (though, graduate school is not a must--I am very happy with my job now). The schools I am considering (for higher education administration) are: Vanderbilt, Harvard, Stanford (POLS), Ohio State, Boston College, and UPenn. I am in-state for Ohio State and it if I was admitted, it would be very affordable/is a fantastic program.
  3. I am going to the Harvard Summer Institute on College Admissions--I am SO excited!! As far as Harvard, part of the appeal is certainly Boston--just so many opportunities in the area (EdTech, college access organizations, independent schools, colleges) for higher education.
  4. Thanks, that makes me feel much better! I have started working on my SOPs and the focus has been applying what I have learned as an employee thus far. I considered applying to grad school right out of college, but am so glad I have waited! I think it will be so much more meaningful for me with a few years of experience under the belt!
  5. I plan on applying to Harvard GSE (Higher Education Administration). I'm excited to be attending an education conference at Harvard this summer for a week--hopefully this will give me a taste of HGSE.
  6. Hello everyone, first-time poster here. As I begin my third year in educational admin in a university, I have started to think about graduate school (I will be applying this upcoming fall) in higher education administration. Through research and discussions with colleagues, I am most interested in very practical-focused MA programs (preferably 1 year). My question is this: what types of things do you discuss when your program is not research focused? Many of the SOP advice threads seem to discuss working with specific faculty members, etc. (which I know is important for someone interested in academia). Thank you in advance for any insight. Panda
