Thanks, cloudysky. One of the greatest things about this board is realizing I'm not the only one rendered completely unproductive by this wait. Ugh. I will hold off. (That's the advice of a friend of mine in the corporate world, too - things happen, give it a week/5 business days. They are well aware they're behind schedule and don't need reminding.)
So, my country's Fulbright (which sends us to the US) says they'll notify recommended applicants on or before April 15th. It's past COB at their offices. Any clue what this means, and more importantly, how much of a neurotic asshole do I look like if I email (very courteously) to follow up? They notify by email, I've been checking my spam filters relentlessly, etc.
According to Twitter, a bunch of people from my program have gotten good news. Trying to read these particular entrails ... presumably those declined are Tweeting it.
Me too. I know that they seem to give all responses on the same day (some competitions inform their first choices first, then issue acceptances if they have awards declined, but that doesn't seem the case here) but my hopes are slowly deflating as the days tick by.
Hey all,
I've read most, but not all, of this thread. I'm a Canadian applying for a Fulbright to go to the US. They promise a response by email by the 15th; has anybody heard yet?
Congrats to those that have heard good news, good luck to those still waiting, and better luck in the future to those turned down. This waiting is brutal.
Longtime lurker, new poster. University of Manitoba student, here. I have two questions:
- has anyone else NOT gotten their snail mail yet? Normally it doesn't take this long for a letter to get from Ottawa to Winnipeg.
- am I correct in assuming that they'll use the address that was on my application? I had a different mailing address through the school when I applied in the fall, but put my current address on the SSHRC forms.
