  1. I also applied to the UIUC IESE department and got accepted there. They also have people in my field so it doesn't make that big of a difference. Considering that UIUC has the Coordinated Science Lab and Beckman Institute as interdisciplinary institutes connecting most of the engineering faculties, it is easy to work with professors from other fields as well.
  2. Well, UIUC ECE stayed true to their word and delivered an answer today: rejection
  3. Hi, didn't apply to CMU ECE, rather to CS Robotics. However, I did apply to UIUC ECE and it seems that once again this year they are taking their time with decisions. When I emailed them at the beginning of last week, they said that faculty were still in the selection process and that decision would be made by April 1. Well, April 1 is tomorrow, we'll see if they can keep their promise. I studied at UIUC before and know some of the ECE secretaries. They are very nice and helpful and it's probably not their fault at all, but it seems that something is going wrong in the department as far as getting decisions out in time.
  4. I was accepted to UCSB Mechanical Engineering PhD at the beginning of February with full funding. First it was only an unofficial email from the head of the selection committee, a few weeks later I received the official acceptance letter in the mail. From what I heard UCSB ME has about 15-20 grad/PhD students this year.
  5. My winning streak is extending! So far: UCSB Mechanical Engineering PhD: accepted, full funding UWashington Seattle Aero/Astro PhD: recommended for admission by department, still waiting for decision from Grad Admissions UIUC Industrial and Enterprise Systems Engineering PhD: accepted, assistantship + tuition waiver Still waiting for: CMU Robotics, Cornell Mech/Aero, UPenn ESE, Georgia Tech ECE
  6. Hi, first post here, been following the board during my own "application ordeal"! I received a letter in the mail today from one of the schools I applied to. It states that the department's admission committee is recommending my admission to the Graduate School. I should be hearing from Graduate Admissions on their decision soon. I'm really not sure what to make of this. Is this pretty much a done deal and Graduate Admissions merely a formality, or does this mean I still can't be sure of anything because Grad Adm might have a different opinion??? Kinda confused right now! :?: Thanks!
