  1. Congrats on Toronto!!! I made it off the waitlist at NYU (THANK GOD) and got full funding with the very generous stipend of 26k!!!! I am BEYOND thrilled!!! Best of luck to everyone!!!
  2. NYU, Humanities: 22,000 guaranteed for 5 years, full tuition waiver, partial health insurance, and an extra 4,000 supplement for being a minority.
  3. If anyone knows of anyone who was accepted to the NYU PhD Classics and does not plan on attending PLEASE have them let the department know... I'm now second on the waitlist and would absolutely DIE to go... Negative on Columbia, however I received a wonderful email from the DGS before the mass rejection. She encouraged me to reapply for a Masters if I didn't find a PhD program I liked.
  4. If my waitlist letter said "We feel that nearly all of our applicants would thrive at Public U if only we had the funding to accept everyone", does this mean that if accepted I would get funding? I also got a letter from the DGS stating that I have moved up three places on the waitlist and "things are moving quickly". She also asked if I was still interested. This is a good sign, right??
  5. What did you say in the email that you sent? I am going to compose one myself and want to know what others are saying.
  6. Were you invited to the Communitas? I was invited but I don't know what exaclty it means...
  7. I just got an email from Fordham about an accepted students weekend, but perhaps it's different because I applied for PhD instead of MA... No formal acceptance, but I'm meeting with a professor on Friday so hopefully he can give me the scoop. Still no word from Columbia, or Brown for that matter. I want to call Columbia but am far too afraid.
  8. What kind of email are you composing? I want to contact some schools to see what's going on, but I'm not exactly certain how to word it...
  9. I don't know how good they are. I know that they have a sort of consortium thing with NYU and Princeton in which students can take classes at any of the schools. I'm assuming that it's a good thing to have that kind of agreement with those two schools. They also are known, I believe, for being a better graduate/law school than undergraduate, so that also is favorable.
  10. Uh oh... how did he/she find out?
  11. Thank you, nike, I think I might put a call into them to see what is happening. Do universities notify one another of acceptances?
  12. I think the good luck tokens are a good idea. My adviser said that she is going to make some libations... I consider agonizing about applications to be the equivalent of another class at this point. Did anyone else apply to Fordham/know what's going on with them? I also haven't heard of anything coming from Columbia save the earlier post.
  13. How did you go about asking to be considered for an MA? Can you do it for all disciplines or is it specific to a department?
  14. I've come to wonder at what point "no news is good news" changes to "no news is because schools are too lazy and sadistic to reject you outright?"
  15. This week is a really bad week. I still haven't heard from Bryn Mawr and I heard that rejections were coming. I'm assuming it's a post thing because I'm on the west coast so my rejection has a while to travel. I'm so sorry to hear about the funding sitch at CU. Being accepted without funding is just a big kick in the face, I know your pain. Still waiting on four schools... this is hell. Has anyone heard anything from Fordham?
