  1. Hello! I am an undergraduate student in Ottawa, studying Political Science and History. I have two more years before I get my Bachelor's degree, but I want to start making plans for when I go to get my Master's. I am interested in a few programs in Europe, specifically these: http://www.lse.ac.uk/study/graduate/...alEconomy.aspx http://graduateinstitute.ch/home/stu...programme.html I'm also considering Law school, but I'm very undecided. What is the job market like in Europe? I do not want to stay in Canada, so I'm just trying to see what decisions to make to put myself at an advantage. I already have French citizenship because of my father, so moving to Europe is a non-issue, and I'm excited to leave Canada. I have very little professional experience, especially not in IR or development, so when I do apply, how much of a disadvantage would I be in? Also, I am lso concerned about my transcripts. My first years in uni weren't the best. I went through a few health issues and as a result, my marks and my GPA leave a lot to be desired. I'm confident I can bring my gpa back up, but how much will those initial bad marks affect my chances of getting into LSE or IHEID? I am bilingual in French and English, and I also speak a bit of Spanish and am planning on teaching myself German in the next few years. I do not want to apply to a grad school right after I graduate, I want to work overseas for two years or so, doing internships and getting more involved. With this in mind, what are my chances of getting into either of these programs? Finally, are there other universities that are reputed for their international relations programs? Thanks!
  2. I'm interested in perhaps going to IHEID after my undergrad. What is the campus like? What is Geneva like? Feel free to share your stories and opinions. Thanks
  3. So, I'm sort of interested in going to IHEID, although earlier this morning, I was completely unsure about anything. Anyways, I am an undergraduate student double majoring in Political Science and History, with a minor in French. I want to apply to IHEID, but I'm afraid my Bachelor's degree isn't enough. What kinds of things should I do to pad my resume? I have very little work experience, but what are your suggestions? I was recently hired to work as an Admin. Assistant with the government(in Canada). It's a part-time job for a student, and although I'm quite pleased, I feel I need more to really impress. Does anyone have any suggestions? I'm lucky to live in Ottawa, so there are perhaps some opportunities for volunteering of internships here. Also, after my undergrad, I was planning on taking a bit of time off school and going to teach English somewhere for a year or two. Does anyone have suggestions on what I should do instead to really give myself an advantage when applying to IHEID? Thank you!!
  4. I am so glad I found this thread! Just today, I signed up on gradcafe because I was confused about what I wanted to do. I am still an undergraduate student, in my third year, double majoring in Political Science and History with a minor in French. After finding this thread, and doing some research, I am very much interested in perhaps applying to IHEID in the future. Congratulations to all of you! What was the application process like? I don't think I can apply right after I graduate with my Bachelor's, but am hoping to gain some experience. What would you recommend? What were your experiences like?
  5. Hello! I'm a Canadian undergraduate student and am double majoring in political science and history. I'm still quite unsure of what I want to do in the future, but grad school is something I am strongly considering. I suppose an ultimate goal would be to work with DFAIT, but if I were to do my master's, what Canadian universities, and what European universities are known for their international relations or poli sci programs?
